Deviantart login is once again down, and isn't showing any sign of fixing itself. Unfortunately, this has started to become a common occurence, and to prevent further instances of this happening, we've decided to remove deviantart login as an option from the website.

We understand that this may be frustrating to those of you who primarily use DA, but we hope you can understand our concerns with deviantart's frequent issues. If you use DA login and don't have a recovery email or toyhouse authentification also set, we can assist you in adding one in the Succubuns discord.

Dead of Night Wrap

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Dead of Night plot! We know it was a bit of a risk to tell a story with such a different tone for Succubuns, so we hope you all had a great time on our gothic horror ride.

For those who want to reread their favorite parts or revisit the plot at a later date, we've created an index of all of the plot pages.

Vampires

After Lord Lagosi's actions, there's no covering it up anymore: vampires exist within Burrowgatory. While some may still write the whole thing off as a hoax, others seek to understand the truth about vampires... or even become one themselves?

Vampires

In order to make your player character into a vampire, you'll need to apply the Vampire status to them using a Vampiric Ichor item.

Vampiric Ichor is an account-bound item available from the Vampiric Rites prompt chain. Completing this prompt chain will also give you access to Calla's Sanctum, where you can purchase additional Vampiric Ichors once per month.

New NPC: Timothy

Introduced in the Dead of Night plot, the eternally exhausted vampire Timothy has joined our NPC roster.

Once a regular joe working the night shift at a hospital, Timothy has been thrust head-first into the life—or unlife—of a vampire. You can read more about him in his profile, or get to know him in his new NPC prompt.

Burrowgatory Hill Hospital

Timothy works at Burrowgatory Hill Hospital, where you can find a number of trinkets and titles that may be of interest to medically-minded buns.

The hospital also supplies donated Cherubun Blood to any vampires seeking to free themselves from their curse.

New NPC: Calla

Introduced in the Dead of Night plot, the vampire lord Calla has joined our NPC roster.

As capricious as she is mysterious, Lady Calla has assumed control of vampire society in the wake of Lagosi's plot. You can read more about her in her profile, or get to know her in her new NPC prompt.

Calla's Sanctum

As part of her efforts to bring a semblance of order to Burrowgatory's vampires, Calla has transformed her own hidden stronghold into a meeting place for vampire kind.

In order to gain access to Calla's Sanctum, you'll first need to complete the Vampiric Rites prompt chain.

Once you possess the Sanctum Key, you'll be able to purchase the account-bound Vampiric Ichor item for 500 carats or $25 USD. The Bloodthirsty Title and Anemic Title, introduced in the Dead of Night event shop, will also be available in Calla's Sanctum.

Oleander

Much to Mercy's relief, Oleander has returned to normal in the wake of Lord Lagosi's defeat. After having to make an incredibly awkward announcement to his congregation that he had been incorrectly pronounced dead, he has returned to his normal duties at the church.

The church has avoided mentioning vampires in their explanations for Oleander's return, leading those not in the know to make their own assumptions about All Sinners' Day drunkenness, mysterious illnesses, or demonic miracles. However, for those who've heard the whispered rumors of vampires, or who themselves suffered under Lord Lagosi's plot, it's not too hard to put the pieces together...

Lord Lagosi

After the events of the Dead of Night plot, all of Lagosi's spawn have returned to life, and Lagosi's whereabouts are still unknown.

Perhaps we'll see him again someday...?

Hello, Burrowgatory! We have a couple small updates to the Titles feature for you today.

As we had hoped to add since release, Titles will now display on players' Characters pages. We hope you'll enjoy being able to see your collection of titles all laid out in a row!

Please note that this only applies to the pages linked on your profile (Succubuns.com/USERNAME/characters) and not your editable characters page (Succubuns.com/characters), as the title boxes don't play well with the custom sorting feature. 

Additionally, Search By Title on the masterlist is now active, allowing you to search for all of the buns who have a specific title applied. This includes buns who don't have it set to their primary title, as long as it's not set to hidden.

As always, if you run into any title-related bugs or issues, such as having multiple Primary titles set simultaneously, please let us know with a Bug Report or in our official Discord Server. We hope you enjoy these quality of life updates!

Hello, Burrowgatory! After the incredibly positive reception of our updated Design Guide this summer, the Succubuns team has been hard at work on another guide revamp to help you with your art and writing submissions.

The Updated Carat Guide

With 8 new pages, detailed guidelines for common submission pitfalls, and tons of visual examples provided by our amazing mod team, we hope this carat guide will make submitting prompts easier than ever!

The guide isn't the only thing that's been updated, though!

Updated Carat Payouts

Over the past two years, Succubuns has grown immensely, adding many new features that have allowed players to earn carats through on-site gameplay. Unfortunately, the easier it is to earn carats in other ways, the less worthwhile it's become to engage with the primary focus of an ARPG like Succubuns: creating art!

To that end, we've updated the carats earned for art and writing to better reflect the current value of carats, and the relative effort it takes to submit creative works.

Art rewards have been increased by 5-15 carats, depending on the type of art.

Writing rewards have been increased by 1 carat per 100 words, and the method for calculating earnings for written pieces has been streamlined to avoid confusion. You can learn about the new method on the Writing Rewards page of the updated Carat Guide.

We hope that these payout increases will make the effort of submitting creative works more worthwhile, and will help motivate you to draw and write about your succubuns!

An Important Note About Inflation and MYO Items

We know that inflation is probably the last thing you want to be thinking about right now, but it is an inevitable fact of all economies. In virtual game economies like Succubuns, gentle inflation is actually a positive thing for the health of the game, making it easier for new players to "catch up" to older players! However, it can still have unintended or negative effects that need to be corrected for, such as the fallen relative value of art and writing rewards prior to this update.

As carats have fallen to nearly half the value they possessed when Succubuns first started, MYOs have become increasingly easier to obtain, and the rate at which new MYOs are submitted continues to outpace the rate at which our player count grows. In order for MYO items to retain their intended value, and to keep MYO submissions from growing exponentially, we may need to raise the base price of a Hell in a Handbasket to match carat inflation.

This is not something that's happening immediately—our plan for now is to observe the impact that October's new features and the new carat payouts have on the economy and the rate of MYO submissions. However, if we determine it necessary, we may raise the price of the standard Hell in a Handbasket item starting in the new year. We hope that you can understand why this is something we need to consider!

Dead of Night

Oleander is dead, people are going missing, and something clearly isn't right in Burrowgatory... Can Dove, Jackal, and the enigmatic Silver figure out what's going on before anyone else gets hurt?

Dead of Night is a plot event, meaning that you can play through the event story to earn rewards and learn more about the world of Burrowgatory. New chapters of the story and new event prompts will release throughout the month, with the final installment releasing on November 20th.

New NPC: Silver

Debuting in the Dead of Night plot, Silver has joined our NPC roster.

Raised by Gremory alongside Satin, Silver has developed an intense distrust of demons and the effects they have on Burrowgatory. Will his occult knowledge be the key to saving everyone?

New Imp Color

Black licorice is a controversial flavor, but Dan has decided to experiment with it all the same. Eating this new mochi seems to give imps a strangely gothic appearance...

Black Licorice Mochi is available for purchase with stakes in the Dead of Night event shop. It can also be purchased with carats at Dan's Dango, only for the month of November.

New Event Imp

There's more than one thing stalking in the night... Wulven can now be purchased in the Dead of Night event shop. In addition to its standard form, wulven can be obtained in gothic, white, red, and natural variants.

Pedigree Imp

Lilgrim can now be purchased at Pedigree Pets! Chimelody has been cycled out—so long, chimelody.

While we work on getting an on-site subscription service up and running, pedigree imp polls are available to all players. Vote for winter's pedigree imps here!

Monthly Supporter Boxes

The Supporter Shop has been refreshed for the month! Show Succubuns your support and take home some extra goodies, such as items from the Dead of Night event shop and Wagashi to spend at Pedigree Pets.

Sanguine Raffle

This month's raffle bun doesn't drink... wine.

Tickets can be purchased with stakes in the Dead of Night event shop. Make sure to open the tickets in your inventory after purchasing, or you won't actually be entered in the raffle!
