2nd Anniversary

Over 4,000 players and 8,000 succubuns later... Can you believe it's already been two years?

The success and popularity of my silly bunny game continues to astonish me, and I'm so grateful for all the opportunities Succubuns has brought me. I've gotten to work with so many artists I admire, see my own original game concepts get brought to life by talented programmers, and watch hundreds of people respond to the stories I write and play in the world I've created...

I won't lie and say it isn't overwhelming at times—the bigger our community grows, the louder any negativity is amplified, which can make it hard to keep up my morale. I've had to be careful to avoid burning myself out this year as I've worked on some of the biggest pieces of content I've ever created, especially as unfortunate circumstances in real life have affected Yves and me behind the scenes.

Even so, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Working on Succubuns is so much more creatively fulfilling than almost any other job I could imagine myself in, allowing me to draw so many different things, write stories, create characters, develop game mechanics, world build, and more... As someone who's never been able to stick to just one artistic niche, this is the first time I've ever been able to focus on the same project for two whole years!

There's so much more I want to add to this game next year, and some great new stuff prepared for you all to enjoy in the next couple months, including our first ever novella-length (!!) plot and a new Burrowgatory holiday. More than money, more than popularity, watching people enjoy the things I make for Succubuns is what motivates me to put my all into it, so I really hope you enjoy it all!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported Succubuns over the past two years—this game would be nothing without everyone who plays it and the community you've all built. I hope you all keep pushing your artistic boundaries, making friends, exploring Burrowgatory, and having fun with your silly bunnies!

Happy birthday, Succubuns!

Additional Character Ties Bugfix

Posted 1 month and 1 week ago :: Last edited 1 month and 1 week ago by Yves

Hello again Burrowgatory!

We've made a few more bug fixes to character ties today. We apologize for all of the errors that cropped up with this-- while adding new features is always exciting, these kinds of large errors are always a worry, and we appreciate your patience with them. Here are a list of bugs that are now fixed.

> Character ties showing the same character for both sides when accepting a tie sent to you by another player.
>Alter tie showing your partner's bun when going to alter it (Although it should have still set it correctly)
>Cancelling a pending tie not refunding the red thread to your account.
>Your inventory not properly showing your red thread count if a tie had been rejected.
>Non-visible characters showing on the list for selecting a tie

If you lost a red thread or thread picker due to these errors, please submit a claim with a link to your inventory log on the page it was taken from. Thank you for your patience while we rolled this out, and we hope you've all been enjoying being able to use this feature to showcase your character building!

As always, if you find other bugs please let us know in the discord, the reports feature, or in the comments of this post. Thanks!

Character Ties

Posted 1 month and 1 week ago :: Last edited 1 month and 1 week ago by Yves

♡♡♡

Hello, Burrowgatory! Are you excited for our biggest new feature of the month, as well as a new NPC?

Character Ties

You can now officially link your characters together on site using character ties!

With character ties, any two buns can now have a variety of relationships between them, ranging across amorous, platonic, erotic, civil, and antagonistic. Stack up to three different ties on any pair to describe more complicated relationships!

All of a bun's ties can by found on their new Ties page, located in the menu beneath their Menagerie. Like the Menagerie page, the Ties page will allow you to view the entire collection of that character's relationships all at once. You can click on a character's box to view the labels for their relationship!

Creating Ties

To create a character tie, you'll need a Red Thread. Using this item in your inventory will allow you to select one of your own characters to propose a tie, and let you choose what the relationship label will be on your character's side. The second character in the tie can be another one of your own characters, or a character belonging to another player!

Once a tie has been proposed, the owner of the second character (including yourself, if creating a tie between two of your own characters) will receive a notification of the proposal, and can either reject or accept it. Upon accepting, they will be able to choose what the relationship label will be on their character's side.

If a tie proposal is rejected, the Red Thread will not be consumed. Additionally, if you've made a mistake in your proposal, or if it's been sitting too long without either being rejected or accepted, you can cancel your own proposal from your Pending Ties page to get your Red Thread back.

Altering Ties

If two characters have an existing tie, but their relationship has changed since the tie was created, you can alter that tie to better reflect their new relationship using a Thread Picker.

Please note that a Thread Picker will only alter the relationship on your own bun's side, changing how the other bun is labeled on your own bun's Ties page. In order to alter both sides of a tie, both sides will need to use a Thread Picker. A Thread Picker can only alter one tie at a time, regardless of how many ties two buns have between them.

Severing Ties

If you've decided that you no longer want two characters to be associated with each other, or if you're trading a character to someone else and erasing their previous connections, you can use Fate's Shears to sever the ties between two buns.

Please note that Fate's Shears will sever all of the ties between two buns, regardless of how many they have; there is not currently a way to sever only one tie and leave the others intact. This will remove both buns from each others' Ties pages completely, and does not require approval from the owner of the other bun.

Matchmaker

The items needed to create, alter, and sever ties can all be found at the new Matchmaker shop.

This shop is also where the pronoun titles can now be found!

New NPC: Satin

Running the Matchmaker shop, the romantically-minded Satin has joined our NPC roster.

After a childhood of being neglected by her demon guardian Gremory, Satin wants nothing more than to help others meet their soulmates—and maybe find one herself.

You can read more about Satin in her profile, or get to know her in the new NPC prompt.

Other NPCs

For those curious about the web of relationships between Succubuns' colorful cast of NPCs, we'll be adding more ties between the NPC's over the next few days.

Additionally, with a growing roster of nearly 20 NPCs, the admins have decided that it's no longer a good idea to keep the NPC masterlist entries on our personal accounts, and have moved them all to the Admin account for safekeeping. Thank you all for all of the love you've showed these characters over the past two years!

Masterlist Display Updates

To keep everything looking neat with the new features we've added this month, character names will now automatically truncate in areas like the masterlist or on Ties pages if they're too long to fit on one line.

Truncation will be affected by the settings of your browser, screen size, and other variables that affect how many characters can comfortably sit in one row. Your character's name will never be truncated on their masterlist entry or their profile page, and you're welcome to make it as long as you'd like.

Additionally, it will now no longer be possible to add emojis to character names. We apologize for any changes this may make to your bun rosters, as we do know that some players like to use emojis to categorize characters or add a bit of flair to their page. However, use of emojis in character names has caused us issues with masterlist display in the past, and has complicated the addition of things like Titles and Ties. We hope that you can understand why we needed to make this change, and that the additional character customization features added this month will help to make up for it!

♡♡♡

As of 8:00pm on 10/20, we're currently attempting to bugfix an error with character ties that causes them to sometimes display the same prompt for both characters when setting a tie between two characters. This does not happen with the majority of ties submittied, which made it very hard to test for and discover on a smaller scale.

Most users' ties should have been working just fine, but some displayed the same prompt for both characters, causing an incorrect tie type to be chosen.

We're still working to nail down the exact cause of this issue, especially because it is not happening to all ties or all characters. We recommend you avoid submitting ties until this is fixed.
Once we have this ironed out, we'll put out a call to compensate players who's ties were affected by this, but we need to focus our time and energy on actually fixing the bug for tonight.

We appreciate your patience-- it's been a long time since we added something this complex to the site, and while we knew about the possibility of bugs, this one has been paticuarily tricky.
Thanks!
-Yves

♡♡♡

As of 11:45pm on 10/20, Ties appear to be fully functional. If you submitted a tie between the launch and 8:00pm on the 20th when we announced the issue and had an error, please open a claim with both buns attached explaining which side or sides was mistaken, and staff will issue a thread picker to your account.

Thank you for your patience with us as we solved this error-- I hope you've all been enjoying the new feature despite it!

[FIXED] Deviantart Login error

Posted 1 month and 2 weeks ago :: Last edited 1 month and 2 weeks ago by Yves

Deviantart login has been restored as of 12:00pm site time on 10/15/24.

You should not be able to login using the deviantart login button on the main page. Once you do, please go into the settings page and add an email asap.
As this has happened twice with DA in the past year, this might happen again in the future, and is not something we always have the ability to fix in a timely manner.

Thank you for your patience!

♡♡♡

Hello Burrowgatory,

As of 8:53pm on 10/214/24, Deviantart login is down. This seems to be a widespread issue accross many sites using the Lorekeeper framework, and is most likely based on an error or deviantart-based bug that we do not have access to.

While we hope to get DA up and running again soon, we may not be able to immediately. I will use this as a reminder that even with alias login, you can set an email from your settings page, in case of external errors that we cannot control! If you are still logged in but usually use Toyhouse or DA login, I'd request that you go to your settings page to confirm that you have an email attached. If we are unable to fix this within 24 hours, we will ask users who only have access to their accounts via DA to reach out to the administrative team so we can instate emails for them.

Thank you for your patience as we sort out this issue, and we will hopefully have Alias login and DA aliases working again soon!

Cottontail Toys & NPC Themes

Posted 1 month and 2 weeks ago :: Last edited 1 month and 2 weeks ago by Yves

Hello, Burrowgatory—we have another exciting update for you today!

Cottontail Toys

After the events of the Toy Fair plot, Peter has decided to semi-retire his fashion label to return to his original passion: sewing plush. Though he'll always design clothes for Velveteen, he's closed down Cottontail Couture in favor of opening Cottontail Toys!

At Cottontail Toys, you can find a brand new line of NPC-themed Plush, perfect for adding to your bun's collection.

But that's not all these cuddly toys have to offer...

NPC Themes

In addition to being adorable collector's items, Plush can be used to unlock the brand new NPC site themes. Simply redeem the plush in your Inventory to permanently unlock a site theme based on the corresponding NPC. (Note: Applying a theme will consume the plush.)

Fans of pastels will love the Shibani and Hops themes!

If you want something a little easier on the eyes, the Mercy and Dan themes feature soothing sepia tones and darker blues.

And if you simply can't do without dark mode, Oleander and Angora have you covered.

There will be more plush and themes to come in the future—would you rather pick your favorite, or try to collect them all?
