Madeira was still surprised, even as she was walking there, that another bun had invited her over to their home…

Sure, that bun had been a customer at her restaurant, which made it a bit weird - and they seemed to be Dan’s partner or something, but…  She’d never experienced that before, really, being invited to someone’s home.  (Unless Oleander’s room at the Church counted, but she kind of didn’t think it did…)

She wasn’t really sure what Shibani had wanted to invite her over for, though, but she had just kind of prepared for whatever she could, mentally.

Which still didn’t prepare her to see the pile of pillows behind him when he let her in the door.  “Whoa, that’s a lot of pillows.”

“I get that a lot,” Shibani yawned as he shut the door.  “I like to nap in them, though, they’re cozy.”

“Makes sense,” she said, politely taking off her shoes by a shoe rack.  “Was there anything you um, wanted to do exactly?”

“Oh, I like to take naps with people,” Shibani said, yawning.  “It’s usually what I invite buns over for…  Some of them also want to learn about the ropes I wear and to tie them.”

“Ah, I see,” she said.  Naps… weren’t really her thing, but as she looked at the bondage he seemed to wear daily, the knots did interest her.  She did a lot of fancy pie crusts and knew those took inspiration from things like weaving and even knitting - she could probably learn some interesting ideas from the knots, and she’d almost bet that a bondage themed pie would be of interest to many buns in Burrowgatory…  “I wouldn’t mind learning about how you tie those,” she said, smiling.  “They do seem pretty interesting!”

Shibani beamed, and went to fetch some rope.

Once he had it in hand, they sat together on the floor.

Madeira watched his hands carefully as he showed her the simplest knots first, before then imitating the knots herself.

Once he was satisfied she could do those knots well, he showed her more complex knots.  Some of those gave her more trouble, but still, after a few tries, she was able to get them.

The more difficult part, though, was creating decoration using them.  Shibani used his current decorative bondage as a guide for her to follow for her first attempt - and that was difficult enough.  It was interesting to realize how she had to pre-plan to make the rope ends line up nicely to conceal, and how careful she had to be with spacing.

At least Shibani was a very patient instructor.  That made it a lot easier to keep going in spite of her frustration.  At least doing this with pie dough should be easier than doing it over another bun, she had to remind herself.  Pies didn’t need three dimensions covered, just the top, and she would be able to use different techniques to achieve similar looks to the knots - but she would definitely have to keep a rope on hand with the different knots tied into it…  And maybe make some drawings for inspiration before trying it…

When they finally finished, she was happy he let her keep her practice rope.  That would make it a lot easier, since she wouldn’t need to swing by a store to get any.  She could just head home and start on testing some ideas…

She’d made sure to give Shibani a free one, once she’d sorted out her idea, too.  After all, she wouldn’t have had the thought without him, let alone the knowledge to actually try it.
