[Gift] [Orryn]: My First Imp

Gaius turns to Orryn, obvious disdain written on his face. Orryn purses his lips a bit, not looking at Gaius back. He makes a sound to note that he is in thought.

“Well. It certainly likes you.” Orryn says with a small nod. The impup in front of them jumps up excitedly and lets out a little bark as if in confirmation, which makes Orryn chuckle fondly. “Sweet little thing.” he says, leaning down to give it a small pat on the head. Gaius rolls his eyes.

“Really… Really! Me?? I’ve never owned an imp before. It’s just added responsibility at this point.” Gaius says with a frown, watching Orryn pet and scratch the imp lovingly. “Besides, why don’t you keep the imp? You seem particularly fond of it anyway. I don’t see why it can’t stay with you instead?”

Orryn turns slightly to look at Gaius. Wordlessly, he straightens up and takes a step to the right. Then another. Then he starts walking a few meters away. 

The impup follows Orryn a few steps as he passes by, but after a while, it turns around to check if Gaius is following. Realizing that Gaius had stood still, the imp hurriedly makes its way back to Gaius and parks its cute little butt in front of his feet. It looks up, as if expecting praise from Gaius for being so loyal. Orryn crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow. “And there we have it. The answer to your question.” He strides back as Gaius lets out a small groan. “It really makes no fucking sense.” he grumbles, taking a step back from the impup which gets up and starts to follow. 

“Accept it. It loves you.” Orryn says, giving Gaius a little kiss on the cheek. “And who knows. You might actually begin to love it! Isn’t that how these things go? The first week around, you’re like ‘Oh no, I don’t want one! They’re too much trouble!’ then the next week or so, you’ll see. You’ll be inseparable!”

Gaius looks at Orryn incredulously. “That will simply not happen.” he says with a huff. “I don’t even know the first thing about caring for them!” 

Orryn moves down to pick the little imp up in his arms but as soon as he moves near, the imp gets too excited and starts… zooming. It runs around Gaius’ legs, then under them, then starts chasing its tail. “S-stop!!” Gaius calls out, trying his best not to step on it. “Stop!! Pup!! Sit!” he orders. The impup stops mid chase of its tail. Suddenly, it sits. Gaius and Orryn blink in surprise. “Wow. And that settles it.” Orryn says with a grin. He pats Gaius on the back. “C’mon. Let’s give it a bath. Then after, we can give it a little treat too.” Gaius closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. He grumbles something about Orryn being a menace which is in turn ignored by the other man. 

This little pup… was definitely going to be a handful.
