[MTT] Bicycle Theme

Klaude found that much of his time living in Burrowgatory would blend together. Even if there were events like Mochi Moon that would signal the start of the new year, he wasn’t exactly keeping track of his age nor how many cycles had passed since he was allowed to roam independently. He knew that he was still quite young though compared to the many other buns that have lived longer and truly settled into a place they carved for themselves–Klaude still felt like he was still floundering, especially in the relationship department.

Thus, his…what was this, his fifth? Seventh? Whatever Matentines was very much looking like he was just going to be either on his own or wandering into stranger danger to satisfy the horny. This year, he didn’t quite feel like the latter–not with just any random bun anyway, but he did realize that it was an opportune time to make some money instead. Buns this time of month were usually too busy running into each other’s arms to do anything else, including making gifts and sweets. And, well, Klaude liked sweets.

So it made sense that the ideal job for the season was…a confectioner’s apprentice!

Or so he thought, until he tried making chocolate and messed up in the last part, where some of the chocolate was wasted on the pan. Normally (according to a coworker), the owner wouldn’t be so high strung about a minor mistake, but the orders were shaping up to be record high this year, and they couldn’t afford to waste ingredients.

Thus, he was relegated to confectioner’s delivery bun. Alright, he supposed that there were less chances of him messing up since he was quite familiar with the streets of Burrowgatory. He also had Booble Maps for directions, anyway. Letting out a sharp exhale, he made sure that Vega, his newly adopted Lunell, was secure in his bag that was sitting on the front basket. The back had the container where the chocolates were stored, safely tucked in a cooler so that they wouldn’t melt. He then adjusted his helmet before getting on the bicycle.

A motorcycle would’ve been faster, but Klaude admittedly didn’t know how to ride one. Thankfully, the owner did have a bicycle he could lend (and he knew how to ride that). The addresses he had been given were fairly nearby too – the other buns would be in charge of the orders further off. Vega let out something akin to a chirp as they eyed Klaude with curiosity. The bun, in turn, gave a few scritches on the Imp’s cheek.

“Don’t fly off, Vega, just drink in the sights.”

The wide white eyes of the Lunell blinked before turning their head to the street in front of them. There were not many buns outside, with Klaude assuming that they were all inside doing what buns did best. Kicking off the stopper that kept the bike parked, he started to pedal and made his way to his first stop a few blocks east.

This led to an apartment complex, tall and imposing. He did not greet the receiver but merely left the chocolates at the lobby. In his periphery he already spotted two buns that were not being subtle with their flirting. He rolled his eyes and wished that they got a room. The second stop was an open air cafe, with a very restless bun thanking him profusely for giving the chocolates on time (just before their arrive, he would learn. Maybe as an apology? A gift for a special occasion, or to make a good impression?) Whichever the case, he would wish the bun good luck and be on his way.

Thankfully, today’s weather was pleasantly cool, though halfway through, Vega was starting to get antsy in the bag. Klaude would take a moment to take a break and let the Lunell out to stretch their…cloth thing? There were no legs as far as he was aware of, but they circled around the pink bun a few times, looking around, before Klaude asked for them to return to the bag. The Lunell refused and instead squished themselves in between his jacket and shirt. Looking rather snug, the bun decided to just adjust the zipper so that Vega’s head would still stick out while not being too tight.

The last stop was a little more out of ways to where Klaude usually went, looking a little more like a suburban area rather than the towering buildings he was more familiar with. As the bun with a bike approached the house, he stopped when he heard loud shouting–sharp words and biting finalities (at least that was what it seemed like at the heat of the moment). He then saw a fuming bun leave the house, take the car and drive off. Another bun would appear by the doorstep, looking defeated. An awkward glance at his phone revealed that this was the house he was supposed to deliver chocolates to. Hm.

He cycled slowly and parked at a lamppost before disembarking. Vega would squirm out of the jacket and hover close by while Klaude grabbed the last piece of chocolates. These looked particularly expensive too, yikes. He then walked to the house, and by then the other bun had noticed him. There was a sad smile on them, but Klaude didn’t know whether it was okay to ask what happened. After all, it seemed rude to pry, and the other bun was almost entirely silent. They took the chocolates wordlessly before opening it and offering one of them to Klaude. Surprised but too stiff to say anything but thank you, he was invited to sit on the concrete step in front of the door, silently eating a piece of chocolate and unable to really savor the taste. All the while, Vega would settle on Klaude’s shoulder, eyeing the stranger who tried not to break into tears.

Eventually Klaude mustered up the courage to excuse himself, with the bun understanding and wishing him well. The bike back to the store was more somber and somewhat of a reminder to Klaude–that this month was all about relationships, both the good and the bad.

Setting the backdrop for possible artworks to come with Klaude - just felt like writing it out first so that I could get in the groove of things. Does this count as an attempt in making, giving (as delivery) and eating?? lol
