Ear-Resistable

“Ow!” Tsubaki hissed in pain and pushed back in her chair with a wince. Moments earlier, she had pushed her chair too close to her desk, and her poor ear was pinched between the two. As she rubbed her ear to soothe the throbbing pain, she stood from her desk and made her way to the nearest bathroom. 

Normally, Tsubaki didn’t give much thought to her ear style. She rarely wore accessories for them, or even tied them up. She preferred the look and feel of them just naturally hanging down. Usually they would never get in the way, but clearly today was an exception. Tsubaki had an important business report to write, and she couldn’t afford anymore distractions, no matter how minimal. 

Tsubaki fished around for a hair tie, then reached around to grab both ears. Another wince of pain coursed through her as she realized that the hair tie was too tight to fit comfortably on her ears. Why hadn’t she invested in an ear tie instead? She made a mental note to buy one the next time she went out. Carefully removing the tight hair tie, her poor ear was now throbbing even more. She needed a way to tie her ears back that wouldn’t aggravate it any further. 

Searching the bathroom to see if she had anything that could work, Tsubaki eventually found a ribbon that one of her friends had gifted her a while back. Tsubaki wasn’t big on ribbons and thus forgot about it in a drawer, but now she would be sure to thank that friend later since this was exactly what she needed. 

Once more, Tsubaki carefully gathered her ears, this time tying them back with a ribbon that both worked and was light and gentle enough to not agitate her ears. Looking in the mirror, it was also kind of cute. Perhaps she should accessorize her ears more often.
