Life's A Beach Prompt

The first thing that Tsubaki and her friends did upon arriving at the beach was to swim in the water. While they mostly just relaxed and swam normally, there were a couple of splash fights as play arguments cropped up. These mostly consisted of Tsubaki and Kasa splashing each other after teasing each other one too many times. After some time, everyone became tired of swimming and left the water to start pursuing other activities.

Tsubaki scanned the beach for ideas on what to do next. Off in the distance, a few dolls were playing beach volleyball. That was certainly an option that Tsubaki kept in mind, she quite liked physical activities and games, so maybe she could ask one of them to join in on the game later.

“I’m hungry.” Kasa complained beside her, causing Tsubaki to chuckle. Truthfully, she was also getting a bit hungry after swimming for so long.

“I bet that at least one of the food stalls is selling chicken.” Tsubaki pointed out, knowing it was her sister’s favorite.

As expected, Kasa’s head whipped in her direction. “Chicken?! You really think so?” Her eyes were practically sparkling.

Tsubaki giggled louder this time. “I’m willing to bet. I doubt they would have fried chicken, mind you, but grilled chicken would be doable. It’d be pretty hard to lug a vat fryer to the beach I think, but grilling is a given. I would assume that multiple shops have barbeques.” While fried chicken was Kasa’s favorite, her sister did still love other types of chicken a lot. Tsubaki was also fond of chicken so it would make a good meal for both of them.

“Then what are we waiting for?” Kasa led the way towards the food stalls with Tsubaki close behind her. The first stall they came across sold corn, the second sold drinks, but as they came across the third one, Kasa’s eyes began sparkling again as it seemed like they served chicken skewers. “How many do you want?” Kasa asked her somewhat impatiently as she wanted to order as quickly as possible.

“Two is fine,” Tsubaki smiled. One thing she loved about her sister is that Kasa usually didn’t mind paying for things for both of them while they were out. In general, Tsubaki preferred people who would buy or give her things as she hated spending money herself. She had her greedy personality to blame for that, along with the accompanying horns. Kasa was also the one and only exception who Tsubaki would actually buy gifts for on special occasions, though usually she preferred to help in other ways, such as with her time and energy. More of a service type love language.

“Twelve skewers please.” Kasa ordered. One might normally think that she was ordering for their whole friend group, but no. Two were for Tsubaki, and the remaining ten were all for Kasa. As a gluttony type, her sister loved food and could eat way more than the average person. It was amazing that she didn’t gain any weight, but it did lead to some funny jokes about all of it going to her chest.

It didn’t take long for them to receive their order, after which the pair made their way to some nearby tables to eat their meal. With the taste of chicken in her mouth, the slight breeze that brushed through her hair, and the salty smell on the air, Tsubaki closed her eyes for a moment and let in a deep breath. A relaxing day on the beach was exactly what she needed, and she couldn’t wait to come back again soon.
