Dango Class

The bell on the shop door rang as Lucilia walked inside, past the mumbling pile of pillows, and up to the counter. Out of the back came Dan, looking like he'd somehow been mildly inconvenienced, but didn't care enough to do anything about it. He took a look at Lucilia, glanced over at the pile of pillows (which had resumed its quiet snoring), and gestured for her to follow him with a sigh. "Have you ever tried making dango before?" She shook her head, not that he could see it. "No, but I appreciate you taking the time to teach me." He shrugged and set down his mallet. He led Lucilia over to a clean counter he'd prepared with ingredients, and pulled a few towards them. "So. The flour."

After a long detailed description of how the flour should react, and how to know when it's ready for the next steps, which Lucilia did her best to pay attention to, they started to work to make the dough until Dan was satisfied. They pinched and twisted the dough into little balls, and slid them onto the skewers. Lucilia is doing well enough and Dan seems happy enough. She thinks so anyway. They finish up the dango and prepare a few sauces, arranging things onto a tray. Dan carries the tray over to the table, and invites Lucilia to sit down. He carefully shows her how to add the toppings, and once they're done, he takes one and inspects it carefully. Lucilia sits and watches as he carefully examines her work, hoping she did sufficiently well to pass. As he's about to take a bite, a bun walks through the doorway, hugging a pillow. "Is the dango ready yet?" He asks, rubbing his eyes, "can I try some?" Dan looks up and nods, holding out the dango he was going to eat. He shuffles over and flops into Dan's lap, moving his hand and taking a bite of the dango Dan's still holding. "Thamkfs." Lucilia tries not to giggle, and Dan seems a little flustered. "Ooh, it's good!" He looks at Lucilia, "these came out great!" Dan takes a bite, and nods, "these did come out well." Curious, Lucilia takes one to taste, and is very much satisfied with the results. They're nowhere near as perfectly shaped or smooth as Dan's usually are, but they most definitely taste good, and that's more or less what she'd been going for. "Thank you for teaching me, they wouldn't be nearly as good without your help." Dan shrugs, and takes another bite of his dango.
