[January] List-making

With a tilted head, Dagasho looked at the simple piece of notebook paper that he’d laid out on his workbench table. It only had one thing written on it: “New Year's Resolutions”. The wrinkles on his forehead deepend as he balanced a pencil between his horns… for an old bun, this wasn’t really something that you did often, but a certain circumstance had made Dagasho want to make a resolution list in the first place.

Was it the fifth piece of blown up furniture? Noo… okay, MAYBE it was the seventh piece. Or maybe it was that time when Dan got mad that he blew up a part of his shop (it was an accident), or when his fireworks failed and he got dragged along the ground by a rogue rocket…

Dagasho shook his head, letting the pencil fall to the table. No no no, he couldn’t think about all that! New year, bigger booms! Almost immediately Dagasho retook the pencil that’d fallen and wrote, “BIG BOOMS” immediately under the page’s title. That’s always a good resolution, right? Bigger fireworks, bigger jobs, more people around to see his work! It made the ol’e flame in his heart sparkle when he saw buns smile when they saw his work… and more explosive bragging rights were always good.

But buns normally had more than just one resolution, right? What else was there to put down? After a moment of scribbling, Dagasho wrote down “Become fluffy” on a whim… he loved his fluffy fur, but it was always getting singed by explosions. Maybe he ought to put more care into his fur, lest he start… losing it. Oh dear demons, let that not happen. He may be older, but at least he has dignity! 

And that was a pretty good list, right? Well… even though it was only two entries, that still made a list! This was certainly more than last year in its entirety, and… Dagasho’s an old man, he can’t go making TOO many resolutions… or he’ll never get to ‘em all. Or at least… that’s what he tells himself.

So with a happy heart, Dagasho slammed the pencil down on the desk… and after a prompt snap, the entire thing fell apart into semi-charred pieces.

Ah.

Carefully, Dagasho picked up the pencil and wrote, “Keep my furniture alive for more than a month” on the paper before waddling over to the side to grab a broom. There’s always room for more resolutions down the line when they become relevant, perhaps…
