A Box of Chocolates
Chuck was feeling a little more confident this time around with his present. He actually bought a box of chocolates. Granted, it might have been a little beat up as it was the last box left. And having to sit under so many others...it makes sense it might have been a bit misshapen, but that was just the box. Surely, the chocolates were just fine!
The cowboy made his way towards Kon's door, standing straight. Prim and proper as he got to the door. He was absolutely ignoring that the two shared a home. It didn’t matter. It was all about presentation, and he wanted it to be a good one. So, he would knock on the door, tuck his hands behind his back, and wait for an answer…
And an answer would shortly come!
... After a little bit of time.
There was a bang here, a thud there, and immediately the sound of walking. It seemed that maybe something was going on inside? Who knows! Regardless. The door would answer and standing there would be the very partner that Chuck was seeking out.
Konstantinas!
Kon was standing there with a little smile, and messy hair - and behind him were all sorts of decorations. Someone sure was busy….
"Charles," Konstantinas would immediately say with a higher pitch, excited. "Back so soon!"
"The one an' only!" He sounded a bit smug, though it was for comical effect. He gave a smile, though it had a hint of guilt behind it. He was a bit embarrassed...though it seemed that Kon did not pick up on it.
After all, he was not very good at picking up such subtle changes. To Kon? Chuck was just being a smug little devil as usual.
Chuck's eyes traveled upward, taking note of the messy look. If he had to guess, Kon probably was doing something...like baking! Maybe making a pie for the holiday. Something like that!
"Couldn' keep yew waitin, now could I?" The cowboy questioned as he waltz into the house. "I got yew a lil somethin on my time out!."
"And true to your word, you certainly didn't keep me waiting,” Kon replied, his eyes following as Chuck awkwardly made his way in…Strange how the cowboy tried to hide his hands behind his back. "Not one bit.”
When Chuck entered the home - his eyes would be bombarded with the sight of so many decorations. Pinks here, reds there, frills, lace - and many, many hearts. It was like an explosion of love. Chuck's eyes wandered around the room, feeling as if his gift might have been a bit....hm, lesser than what Kon was doing. All the lacey hearts and frills. Kon sure have been at this for what seemed like forever.
"...Uh-" Chuck was at a loss for words…Oh shit,How does he compete with that?
“What did you get me?" Kon’s words brough Chuck back to reality. It took Chuck blinking one, two, three times before his brain finally registered the question…He had to stop focusing so much on the decorations right now.
"Well...It ain' nothin big, but uh...It's jus' a lil gesture I wanted to show." He gingerly pulled out his hands from behind his back. And he had the chocolates...which had a dent in the box. That damn dent. Though the shape was already damaged, Chuck held them out carefully with both of his hands. He was, surprisingly, careful! Maybe he knew if he fucked with that box anymore than it’ll disintegrate in front of both of them…At least, his mind believed it would.
Chuck was waiting for some kind of reaction. Maybe displeased or underwhelmed. He very much got into his head the longer Kon took to respond...Maybe he got into his head a little too fast there.
To Chuck’s surprise, a dent in the chocolates was nothing to his partner. Kon's eyes focused on its shape, following the curves all the way up until he realized -
Oh!
This...this was indeed for him! Of course it was. It was a gift. Oh…oh how sweet! Despite this happening every year, Konstantinas melted as he always did. His hand would lift to his mouth as he gasped softly, eyes drooping.
"Oh...oh you shouldn't have," Kon’s softened words made Chuck’s head perked and so did his tail..This…This was a good gift? He actually did it! At such a low price too! Awesome!
"Dearest - my love, I didn't even get you anything yet! I'll change that soon, I promise!" The male put his hands out for the gift, his eyes fixating on Chuck now. "I love you.."
"What? All these decorations ain' part of the gift?" Chuck questioned, handing over the chocolates to Kon. "I ain' sure what flavor it is, but uuuh...it looked like a hot seller in the store! Had to fight tooth an' nail to get one of em."
The cowboy let out a chuckle, seemingly pleased with himself….A job well done! Though his mind was nagging him about something he forgot to say…
"...Oh, an' I love yew too, of course." Almost forgot that bit. Silly cowboy.
