Carats can buy anything (let's get wasted)
One of the few things that Jin learns very quickly about Tomoki is that as greedy as his roommate is, Tomoki hoards for a reason. It’s All Sinner’s Day and while he is new to Burrowgatory, Tomoki comes into this day with a plan.
Jin’s jealous to say the least. At least he’s used to feeling this way, nowadays it just aches instead of the urge to snap.
“So you’ve hoarded all of these carats just to spend?” he finds himself asking. “Do you even know what you want?”
Tomoki’s eyes light up. Even Jin knows that he won’t be writing today.
“I have a hitlist,” the writer replies in a conspiratorial tone. “Specifically for The Rabbit Hole.”
A beat.
“We’re spending the whole day drinking,” Jin deadpans. At this point he shouldn’t be surprised but at the same time, he finds that he doesn’t mind. If anything, he wonders if he’ll actually get drunk for the first time.
If it’s going to land on the news, then well, it’s All Sinners Day. That’s not on Jin. Everyone has fun and if he’s lucky, maybe he’ll finally tell Tomoki what those stories mean to him. That being said, he’d rather chew off his own foot than say it outright.
(Part of Jin thinks that if he didn’t have jealousy problems, he’d be one of those prideful buns. One that’s far more fitting for a hard head of his caliber.)
“It’s your first All Sinners’ Day right?” Tomoki suddenly then asks. There’s that unreadable look in his eyes again. “You should spend it doing whatever you want, the point is to have fun and to even go a bit overboard instead of being a hardass.”
See that’s the thing, Jin doesn’t know how he should spend this holiday at all.
“Bold of you to assume I know how to relax.”
“Neither can I but if you want, you can help me find something to spend these carats on. Maybe it’s time for a new headset–”
“The only stores I know are too out of your budget.”
Tomoki grins. Ah, so this is what he’s gotten himself into. “For today, they’re in my budget.”

That’s how he finds wandering about in the malls because apparently Tomoki believes that he has a good eye for what’s well made. It’s the nicest thing he’s heard for all of years in his life. Nevermind how this is the most fun that he’s had for the first time in his life.
It’s even better than his time reading scripts or being on set. This is for him even if Tomoki is asking if something looks good on him or if a piece of stationary looks like it can stand a writer’s wear and tear.
What he ends up carrying is far too many notebooks (Tomoki’s) and his own collection of new pens for annotating scripts.
And then Tomoki treats him to lunch of all things because ‘it’s not like I’m going to spend all of this in the first place!’ and the words nearly tumble out of Jin’s mouth. He stops himself though. Later. They have all of the time in the world and he’d rather not throw out this one relationship he’s built in Burrowgatory.
Though this vice for greed to have more and more? Part of Jin wonders if it’s actually as bad as he used to think it is. And he’s also an actor, one that’s paid decently yet this is what he worries about.
Part of him wants to laugh at the ridiculousness of the whole situation. For as many problems as he has, spending carats shouldn’t be one of them when he shows Tomoki one of his favourite spots for drinks.
It’s a small bar, one way less known compared to the Rabbit Hole but it’s also the only place where he can get a drink in peace.
“Consider it my treat,” Jin offers. “For taking me out for this shopping trip. It’ll go on my tab.”
Tomoki blinks once, then twice. “I sure hope you have more alcohol tolerance than I do.”
He scoffs. “Probably not, you’re the coffee drinker. I’ll easily outdrink you.”

Jin regrets his decision to challenge Tomoki to a drink off later that night.
