[AUDRIC] PURSUIT OF DILIGENCE: CHAPTER 3
Words: 1010
”Now please keep your hands steady and your mind sharp, these seeds are rare and precious as I am sure you recall. '' Primrose's voice was stern and solemn but seemed to mask a hint of genuine concern as he led the gray scaled succubun out of the elevator and through the embassy to the familiar gardens. It’s abundantly clear to Audric that the yellow cherubun didn’t want to have to reach out for this assistance, or any at all, but the matter seemed dire from how sudden the request to meet up once more was. Though he respected the cherubuns work ethic and understood that he wanted to get right to the point, the point would certainly need to be iterated a bit more clearly to him. In an attempt to calm the frazzled bun, Audric placed his hand gently on his shoulder, forcing him to halt his soldier like march through the holy halls “Primrose, you know I am more than willing to assist with whatever you may like, but you should inform me what my duties will be first”.
Though Primrose scrunched his nose at the hand on him at first, his eyes shifted indignantly to the succubuns face and then softened slightly, letting a sigh escape him before he gave a small nod, standing up straight once more and quickly straightening the fabric of his clothes “ Yes. Yes of course, there is no cause for being so disorganized. “. As Prim started to talk, it seemed that the shortened numbers of cherubuns present in the burrows had started to have a toll, specifically in the labor department. Two of the cherubuns who were supposed to be in for tending to the garden hadn’t shown up, one with an excuse and one who was just entirely MIA, which seemed to frustrate Primrose more than make him concerned for the whereabouts of the heavenly bun.
Audric listened diligently, nodding when appropriate so the venting yellow bun would know that he wasn’t simply going through the motions as he spoke. After all, upon their first meeting in the Heavenly Embassy, Audric knew well how important the gardens and Ambrosia in general is for the Cherubuns to survive here. As Primrose seemed to mellow more, bringing himself to his normal level of snobbery once more, he gestured an arm toward the entrance to the gardens “Very few cherubuns have the knowledge necessary to care for our gardens, and even fewer have the clearance. I am only one bun and as much as I don’t want to admit it….I need your help”.
Wow, that seemed like a struggle for him to get out, truly. Whether that was because he is a Succubun or because Primrose doesn’t like admitting to needing help or being a man with limits is still up in the air though, it seems. Prim is certainly a very proper person and while his opinions of succubuns seem to certainly be lower than most, he does recognize the value of their connections and communication, especially with succubuns who seem to have manners and standards, like Audric.
“ Ah, so you less need me to learn today and more so, be an extra set of hands to you in your garden duties. '' Audric confirmed the condensed version of events as he understood it, or at least what of that ramble he could understand, (Primrose had devolved into just rambling at a point in there) and the Cherubun confirmed with a nod. “ Precisely, I don’t have the time or energy present to entirely train a new cherbun for garden duties today and Dove is off gallivanting with that… leather clad woman- so she is unavailable to come assist”. Whomever it is that Dove was living with, it seems that Primrose does not approve, but gaining his disapproval certainly isn’t a difficult task so Audric didn’t pay it too much mind. He is more impressed with himself that he was able to gain even a hint of favor from Primrose, anyway.
“ I can easily offer that assistance, yes. I promise I will place my hands on nothing without your permission. “ He followed Prim into the garden proper now as he spoke, slipping his cloak off his frame and draping it over one of his arms until he found a place within the garden to temporarily hang it. After that, he took a moment to roll up the sleeves of his priest uniform, listening to the cherubun give a general run down once more about the cultivation of the heavenly gardens…though he did hear Primrose’s tone falter slightly in his speech, glancing toward him confused as it happened and catching the bun…staring.
Primrose had been talking generally about proper watering levels for each separate garden bed and what fertilizer to place where in what thickness when he looked back to Audric. He hadn’t…seen him without the cloak before, he has a very nice figure. Sure, he’d noticed before that he had a very visually appealing face but this felt different. He had no skin showing besides his forearms as his sleeves rolled up but to a cherubun of his status, this felt more intense.
Audric noticed Primrose just staring a bit listlessly at him and gave a small clear of his throat, seemingly knocking him from his trance and triggering a flush to his cheeks similar to the one that had appeared when they first met. He chuckled gently to himself as he gestured for Primrose to continue talking, which he happily did to avoid the conversation that could arise from being caught admiring someone so intently. As he continued to relay instructions, Primrose handed Audric some gardening gloves and gestured him toward a legion of watering cans that needed to be filled. No wonder Primrose is so attentive and protective of the Embassy, the upkeep of these plants alone would be enough to drive someone to a stress induced mental break, and yet Primrose seems to take it on happily, almost with pride. It’s certainly something to be admired, a work ethic like that.
