The Beach Episode
Holding a bag of beach essentials over one shoulder, and lugging the heavy camera bag she had through the sand behind her. All Arrie could hope for is that the beach was somewhat clear for her to record today. Not that she minded having other beach goers in the shot, but less audio editing later would be a nice surprise. In fact, her viewers had voted and asked for a beach themed episode. Usually they voted on what game she would play for a stream, or they'd send in videos she would react to. But asking her to do a day in the life vlog at the Forneus Sea was a definite first.
She searched for a smooth patch of sand and started setting the tripod up, putting a healthy amount of time into getting a good camera angle for the recording. Next she opened her bag of beach supplies. An extra wide umbrella, lotion, towels, and a significant amount of Slime Energy drinks nestled in a cooler. Hitting advertiser quotas was no small work, but she still had a brand to uphold. It was all coming together, and as she put the finishing touches on what should have been a fairly simple relaxing beach trip, she heard a foul cry.
"Shit, y'okay lil buddy?" Quince was hovering over a sand covered Hutch who had their ankles tangled in a long leash. The Impup on the other end looked scolded and scared by the shriek they'd made on the way down. "I told you I should handle the more rowdy bunch, you're gonna get dragged along by these pups. These babies love playing at the beach." Arrie tried to approach, hoping these two wouldn't mind the intrusion. She could see from the fall, at least a tiny scrape had shown up on the back of Hutch's arm where they'd tried to brace themselves. Her instincts kicked in, and Arrie felt the urge to help.
"Err. You need a little help there?" Arrie offered. Hutch seemed too embarrassed to respond, and Quince kind of waved for her with a nod as she tried to rangle in the four other rowdy Impups that desperately wanted to continue their walk. Using her long nails to slip between the leash, she carefully untangled Hutch. "Sorry to barge over like this. I was setting up over there, and couldn't help but hear you-”
"Please. I know. I didn't mean to make that noise, it just caught me by surprise to have the ground ripped out from under me." Hutch was beat red, they hadn't even noticed the scrape on their arm. Arrie grabbed at it, dusting off some of the sand before looking it over. "It's fine, I promise. Don't worry about- OW. Stop, stop, sorry." They jerked their arm when she started to press on the skin around the cut, despite the sand being a somewhat soft landing, falling hard like that was sure to feel not great.
When Quince returned with the pack of very happy looking Imps, Hutch was already standing in wait with the culprit's leash extended to her. Arrie bid them both farewell on their walk, and went to check that her camera was still where she left it. Thankfully nobody snatched up her equipment, although she did notice something. She had already started recording before she walked away.
Playing back the tape, she caught pretty much everything that happened. Her setting up the towel and umbrella, Quince and Hutch walking in frame behind her. The Impups that they were walking were mostly in uniform, albeit one was lagging along. The pup Hutch was walking stayed behind to dig at the sand for a moment. Hutch was too busy staring at Quince to notice the leash tightening in their hand, then the Impup felt the pull and ran to catch up. Wrapping around the other direction of Hutch's feet. Before anyone could react, the leash wrapped against their heels like a clothes line, dragging them abruptly onto the ground.
Arrie had to stifle a laugh as the yelp replayed through the camera speakers. She closed the video out and deleted the file. While she would probably never include clips like that in the final video, knowing she caught something like that on camera by complete accident was exactly why she found these vlog episodes so strange. But if this is what the viewers wanted, she would just have to try and see how it goes. Restarting the footage, she set herself up on the towel. "Welcome back A-Team, I heard your suggestions. As you can see, this isn't my room for once. Pog, I know. Y'all voted, and you wanted to see me go to the beach for some reason?" She cracked open a can of Slime. "So, today's gonna be a summer story time vid. Kick back, get on your best shades, and don't forget that SPF 66.6."
