Dango Making

Today was Epsilon’s scheduled shopping day. She had to run to the grocery store, pick up some Dango, get a drink from the Rabbit Hole if she had time before her stream began. Deciding to be smart, she started with picking up her tasty treat. That way her groceries wouldn’t be weighing her down while she stood in line at either establishment. And so, she set off. Neptune and Tauri trailing closely behind her. “Alright…what flavor should we get…” She cooed, talking to the Impups as if they were Buns themselves. “Maybe…Cocoa? Or watermelon…hm…” She read through a small pamphlet as she approached Dan’s shop, her tail moving behind her slightly. She…had a thought cross her mind. One that could save her a lot of Carats if she managed to perfect it. What if she got Dan to teach her how to make the chewy treats? It couldn’t be that hard right?

The doll turned a corner, walking a few more feet before stopping outside shop door. “Okay, Neptune, Tauri. I need you stay right here. Okay?” Before she went to open the door, an ad caught her eye. It was an ad for a Dango-making course. She stepped inside the store, her tail swished behind her as she stepped up to the counter. She leaned against the smooth surface and looked up at Dan as he stepped to the register. He brought his hand out before Epsilon could even begin to speak. “The course is going to start soon. Get in the back.” “Okay- Okay.” She huffed, trailing behind the taller doll. She was horribly unprepared, but it couldn’t be that difficult, right?

Oh boy, was she wrong. "First, take the rice flour and dump it in. You can’t mess that part up.” Dan spoke, looking at Epsilon from afar. She rolled her eyes. “Ugh-. Now what?” “Take the sugar and add it. Then add the hot water from the kettle.” The femme doll poured the sugar in before grabbing the hot water. It wasn’t boiling but it wouldn’t be pleasant to have on her skin. She shakily added it to the mixture before grabbing the spatula. She quickly folded the dough. “Easy, easy. You’ll make a mess.” Epsilon, out of spite, began to fold as slowly as she could. “...You can’t be serious.” Dan looked on, clearly unamused. He shook his head as she finally got it together and mixed the dough to soft and smooth. “Okay. Now pick an ingredient. That’ll be your flavor.”

“Uhh…” This would be a hard choice for her. Without really thinking, she took the chocolate bar. Sounded the most appetizing. She was then given the order to shave it into the dough bowl. Hesitating, she then used her hands to kneed the ingredients together. “Now add some cocoa powder. Not too much.” Epsilon followed Dan’s order, scooping a tablespoon amount of powder in. She finished mixing it and molded the dough into multiple balls. “Okay. Now what?? Are we done?”

“No.”

“Dammit.” She groaned. “Now, boil them until they float.” This was taking too long. She stared at the pot. She quickly took them out once ready and put them into cold water. “Now skewer them.” He said. “After that, you’re done.” Epsi breathed a sigh of relief. She attempted to make them straight but they ended up crooked.

“Good enough.”
