[Prompt] Prissy & Pristine
Tomoki isn’t exactly new to the Heavenly Embassy, rather, he simply never comes to visit because there’s nothing here for him. Sure there’s knowledge but that’s inherently everywhere. And from his experiences, aside from Dove, the other Cherubuns don’t know him well enough or would care.
So he calls this a supposed visit of sorts. It’s a way to deal with his curiosity before it gets worse. If anything, Tomoki feels like he’s going to get into an argument with one of them. It’s bound to happen more than anything else.
What he doesn’t want is a lecture. Now that’s a waste of time and that energy can be used elsewhere.
Except–
Except he runs into Primrose of all of the cherubuns.
“I was curious about this place,” he says in a way that sounds all sorts of awkward. Tomoki supposes that he’s never good at butting heads with anyone or confronting anyone.
And then there’s Primrose who scares the shit out of him to an extent.
“So you’re for a vacation then, I assume,” Primrose replies in a way that part of his mind tells him to run. To get away from this because there’s something that’s going to be going on that he’s wildly not prepared for.
“I can leave if you want,” he replies.
Primrose raises a brow, completely unimpressed. “If it’s your day off–”
“A writer never gets a day off,” he deadpans in response.
“And you’re here instead of writing so it is a day off.”
Tomoki doesn’t have a reply to that to even get out of this. “And what do you have in mind?”
Primrose grins and he knows he’s immediately in trouble with this. Really, he should not have visited this place in the first place. Anything else would be the better option.
–---
It turns out that Primrose needs help cleaning up the place and it’s why he’s given an apron and everything else to look more proper. Apparently– Apparently–
“Do all of you show off that much skin? It’s hardly proper,” Primrose says as he attempts to clean the dust off.
“Right and if it’s too hot, I suppose we’ll just die from the heat,” Tomoki replies without missing much of a beat.
The cherubun does not reply. Perhaps the two of them have finally met their match in regards to this.
“There’s nothing wrong with being more respectable and pure.”
“It doesn’t pay my bills,” Tomoki replies as he does another sweep of the items in the embassy. It’s strange how white this place is, and thus, reminds him about how quickly this whole place can get dirty.
The smarter move would be to redecorate this place so it doesn’t attract this much dirt. And thus, less cleaning.
Instead of replying, Primrose turns away from him. And leaves him to do the rest of the dusting. There is so much dust over everything and he simply wonders why he decided to visit this place at all. It’s going to be a long day.
–--
Of course, after finishing the dusting, that’s not all that Tomoki needs to do. Instead, there’s more work. In the Heavenly Embassy, there’s always more work. What was that saying?
All work and no play. If cherubuns live like this then he’s happy that he’s a succubun instead. At least one of them knows how to live their best life and isn’t in a place like this. But it’s fine, this is absolutely fine given that it all reminds Tomoki that he needs to clean up his own place at some point.
Unfortunately, scrubbing the floor is a pain in the ass. Especially when he has a mop, some water and wants the floor to look spotless. He wipes the floor once, then again.
What he only sees staring back at him is a floor that isn’t white. Instead there’s bits of black that stare back at him. And that annoys him to no end. Of course, that’s when Primrose comes back to check on him.
“And here they told me that you’re an overthinker, that much sounds true,” Primrose comments as he looks at the area that Tomoki just finished dusting. “You might fit in well here if you can weed out your other habits.”
Tomoki snorts. “Primrose, I hate heights. My two feet are supposed to be on the ground instead of like this. And the trip is too far from where I live.”
“Well, you could come to visit for research reasons. For your books.”
That’s what gets his attention. Really, he’s curious in regards to what these cherubuns do in their spare time and the garden that’s outside. He’s heard of the statues out there and some of the virtues.
There’s a horror story right there that he wants to know the truth about.
“Is that an invite?” he replies quietly as he pushes on the mop once again. “For research reasons that is.”
“Only if you’re interested,” Primrose replies far too quickly. “This cleaning is good work even if your character is lacking elsewhere.”
Tomoki snorts as he stares at the floor underneath him. It stares back at him, strangely spotless.
Then, he turns to Primrose. “I’ll think about it.”
Part of him has the feeling that he’ll be seeing this place a lot more if he accepts Primrose’s offer. Who knows, maybe it’ll be worth it in the end. After all, Tomoki’s always curious about how that ambrosia is made.
