Reflecting on Envious Childhood
Casque groaned to himself as he walked down the streets, having just stopped by a business to do business deal and it had been difficult with the client holding onto their pride rather stubbornly but he had managed to negotiate the terms in his favor.
There were still two more places to stop by and he was getting rather hungry as well. The envy pulled out his phone, his spirit motes now hovering around his ears as he scrolled through messages and notes while sighing. His neighbour had dropped off a box again and one of his employees had dropped a box of wine glasses by accident. The usual.
He pulled out the map to check for locations of his next visits and took note that they were both in same direction much to his relief. And there happened to be a cafe on the way that he could stop at.
Good.
As Casque pocketed his phone into his vest pocket, something caught his eye and he stopped to look. It was a poster of a popular rock band; Fifth Circle. One of their members was smack center, guitar in hand and a wide feral smile on her face. The burning blonde with curved red prideful horns. Minerva.
"Your colours are so beautiful. So perfect. Come here, little Minerva..." a demonic voice cooed as hands reached for a small fluffy yellow bun with hellfire licking at her fur
Casque jerked his eyes away with a quiet snarl as he stalked away from the poster. He had not expected to see that poster not have flashback to his memories. Unfortunately for him, the poster still stuck around in his mind as he reached the small cafe. When he entered and noted the theme being rather punk music, he sighed before getting a table for himself to browse the menu. When the waitress came by, a sloth; Casque placed his order for a simple dish and a pot of coffee.
He put his chin into propped up hand as he glanced outside the window; his thoughts whirling with memories. Unwanted ones. He thanked the waiter when his coffee pot was set down along with the coffee. His first mug was poured and brought to his lips to sip as a new song came on over the speakers. The mug was then lowered to the table as Casque glanced up, listening to the song with a frown on his face.
He watched from the cold tiled floor as the fluffy yellow bun stood on the beautifully sculptured wooden table from above them. A wide feral grin plastered to her face as the demon. No. Gremory. Gremory was smiling down at her with pride as the young bun opened her mouth to sing. Few other young buns gathered around him, looking up at the table and the demon. Few of them had small beads of tears in their eyes as they watched the scene.
Casque glanced up when his plate was set down and nodded his thanks before looking down at his coffee. He sighed softly as he sipped his coffee.
"Please....We're so cold, Gremory....Just one blanket for us to share..." He pleaded with the demon who glance down at him and few others around him with pure disdain.
"No. You do not meet my standards. I will not give you anymore than what you have been given and what you deserve" she spoke rather coldly, and few buns around him sniffed as Casque protested the cruel treatment. "Why?! What have we ever done wrong?"
"You are talentless and you are rather ugly. Browns? Creams? Greens? None of you are the desirable colours! Not like Minerva. Brilliant yellow fur and those fiery red eyes. Perfection." Gremory waved him off as she turned toward the mentioned bun on her table.
The music changed and Casque sighed when he realized that they were playing one of albums by Fifth Circle. He had to finish his meal soon otherwise he would be driven crazy by his memories that he did not want to relieve.
"Why are you so rough?" he whined as he fell onto his ass from an accidental bump with Minerva. He pouted at the offered claw and took it as she pulled him to his hooves.
"Sorry! I was playing" Minerva smiled all fanged and Casque nodded quietly.
"Want to play together?" His purple eyes lit up at her question and she took his hoof; dragging him away to her group of friends to play. It was not long before hands scooped Casque and few other buns up to discard somewhere away from Minerva and her group. They tumbled to the ground from the careless discarding.
"Do not play with them. You are not worthy of being in their presence" Gremory chided.
When Casque glanced up at Minerva, she looked apologetic as she turned toward her friends and he frowned. Few of his fellow discarded littermates began to cry as he sniffled softly
That incident had been what had began to turn Casque toward his envious vice. The way Minerva had just let it happen instead of standing up for them. He drained his coffee and finished his meal then dropped carats onto the table as payment so he could depart quickly.
The day Casque saw large curved horns sprout out of Minerva's head; he knew it was over and he had declared his great dislike for Prideful vice. They were the worst.
It was not a surprise to him nor to his small group of friends that they all developed antler horns reminiscent of Envious vice.
He sighed softly as he headed toward his second business of the day. It was still a struggle dealing with his feelings surrounding his own vice, Prideful buns and especially Minerva but it was something he was working for. From what he remembered of his littermate; she never was cruel nor mean to anyone. Casque is certain that still stands true even today.
Perhaps he needed to have a conversation with her at some point regarding their upbringing?
......Oh that would be when he could hold back his foul mouth and snappy temper.
