Tucked away in a colorful room, painted with clouds and rainbows, two baby buns laid side by side. The purple bun was Michel and the other blue, Cero, a contrast to each other as they practically cuddled together. Their heads were smooth and hornless, with cutely curled spade tipped tails beneath them.

This pair were an inseparable pair of littermates, often unable to calm down without the other beside them. They slept together, they eat together, they even cried together when only one of them was upset. Murmur learned quickly that he couldn’t raise them without letting the pair be dependent on the other. It was his hope that they could learn to be independent from each other one day, but in the end, maybe it wouldn’t hurt for them to continue to be close friends.

As for the baby buns, Michel lazily chewed on his spade tail tip, gently gnawing as he looked around the room. The other baby bun, Cero, slept peacefully beside him, unconscious indulging in his future vice.

It seemed Michel quickly grew tired of his tail and rolled over onto his belly. He scrambled to his hooves, crawling forward as he gently shook Cero awake.

The other baby looked at him, yawning with his mouth wide open, as Cero tried to crawl closer to Michel.

Michel only shook his head, trying to nudge Cero into moving. Cero only flopped over tiredly, cuddling into the blanket underneath him.

It was then that Michel got an idea, the baby bun wiggling in excitement. If he couldn’t get Cero to join him in crawling around, he could just pull his littermate around. He carefully bit down on the end of Cero’s blanket and dragged the other bun forward.

Cero did little in protest, instead he blinked slowly, watching as he was pulled along to whatever the other baby bun had in store for them.

It was only when Michel started to pull Cero along, that the little blue bun began to grab other blankets with his sleepy arms. Just as Michel encouraged Cero to be lazy, Cero was eager to collect as much things as he could to gift to Michel, thus feeding into his future as a bun of greed.

Of course, this meant stealing from the other baby buns of their generation and leaving them to tremble and cry from being cold. Much to the chagrin of Murmur, as he stepped through the doors of the nursery the second he heard the sounds of crying.

Murmur sighed heavily, “What am I going to do with you two?” He raised down to pick up the pair, gently cradling both buns in his arms.

The babies looked up to him with bright eyes. He laughed, “It’s good to find your vices, little ones, but this isn’t the first time I’ve found you both stealing from other buns. You know they need to be comfortable to grow as much as you do.”

Michel looked up at him blankly, smiling a sweet little smile, the same one as Cero. He never knew what Murmur was saying, but he loved his soft voice and his softer arms.

Murmur’s expression softened, “Such sweet ones you both are, just perfect.” He really couldn’t fault them for being succubuns as they were made to be. Greedy buns will always be greedy and sloth buns will always be tiredly following along. Although he was impressed that Cero seemed to be the one feeding into Michel’s vice as much as Michel allowed Cero to be as lazy as he wished.

“Maybe I should put out more blankets, if I put enough I’m sure you both won’t be able to take all of them.” At least Cero wouldn’t, that baby bun got exhausted very easily, even if he wanted to steal for his littermate.

Murmur shook his head, “I would separate you, but you both cried so much you woke every bun in this room and even the rest of my home.” That had been a very loud and very serious day.”

As he spoke, Michel snuggled lower on Murmur’s arm to press his head against Cero’s. Neither one could understand their caretaker yet, but they did know they liked being around each other the most. It was a nice life, comforted by the very demon that raised them and to be able to be together always.

Soon they would be put back down on the ground and given room to continuing playing their little thieving games, but for now, they were at peace with Murmur’s voice.

Even when they, one day, became adults, Michel would still remember that soft voice speaking so gently to him. A voice full of so much love and care.

A memory of the kindhearted demon that loved the succubuns of the burrows.
