Sugary Cocktails

With the sharp tang of alcohol and the clink of liquor glasses, Sugar felt at least somewhat prepared to try to learn something of bartending. He couldn’t use this new knowledge for his imp cafe, as he didn’t serve alcohol there, but he could show off to dinner guests when he wanted to reveal another new creation of his to his friends. At least that was what he let those buns think they were, it helped when he wanted to show off or be appreciated.

“I think this one is too sweet,” he muttered, holding up the dracquiri he had attempted to make. “I don’t know if I’m suited for eyeballing alcoholic drinks, baking is a science compared to this.”

Hops shook her head, smiling as she did, “No I think you’re doing wonderfully, you actually pay attention to my instructions.” She sighed, “Some buns just do whatever they want during my lessons.”

Sugar scoffed, “I don’t understand the point of that, why even take a class if you’re not going to actually try to learn?”

Hops shrugged helplessly, “I’m not sure, but the extra money from the lessons does help.”

Sugar frowned, “Still, you’re just trying to teach your craft. It’s an insult to disregard you.” He crossed his arms and stared at the counter, “I’d be upset if I did a baking class and buns didn’t listen to me. I meant the class is your free time that you’re using to teach others.”

Hops seemed flattered, her eyes bright, “Thank you, not every bun seems to understand that. I will say you’ve made the best drinks so far.”

Sugar chuckled, “I doubt that, but thank you. If you ever want a baking lesson, I’ll give you one for free.”

She seemed surprised, “Oh no I couldn’t do that, you paid for this my lesson.”

He raised a hand, encouraging her to settle down, “Hey I wouldn’t offer if I didn’t want to. Besides I think you’d actually learn something, could even figure out the best cocktails for my desserts.”

Hops grinned, “If I can find the time, I think that would be nice.”

“Of course, just let me know!”

Sugar wondered if Hops was the kind of bun he didn’t exactly want to impressed, instead he felt like he could connect better to someone that had a craft like him. He liked to think as good as Hops was at bartending, he was at baking. He just had to show her that!
