Spicy Rolls
For sme reason, Sheets woke up that mrning and decided she was ging t bake something fr her mate, Raydan. The fact that she had never baked a thing in her life never seemed t cross her mind but she had made up her mind and she was going to bake....something.
After heading to her kitchen she began pulling out bwls of all sizes and everything from cookie sheets that were never used for cookies but for pizza to cake pans that she had no business having in the first place. It wasn't until she started pulling out different ingredients that she thought made sense.
Eggs, Flour, Sugar, Milk. Then a few other things that could...spice it up a bit. "Raydan seems to like spicy gum, hot tomales, red hots...He must like spicy things..." She turned back to the fridge and pulled out a spicy red papper, it never occurring to her that the flavor he liked was cinnamon, not spice. With this completely out of mind, she began to mix somethings together. "I think for the dough I will need everything I pulled out execpt the peppers....So lets get to mixing..." She told herself as she cracked open some eggs and mixed it with sugar milk and flour. Though this didn't go as planned either. "This...looks more like pancake batter..." She said with a slothful yawn. "Maybe I need to add more flour and sugar..." She added a little more sugar and a bit too much flour.
With a sigh she poured the stiff dough out on tto her counter and began trying to beat it into a flat sheet with her rolling pin. This proved difficult because her dough was not soft in any way, shape, or form. The best she was able to do was form some sort of lumpy, odd shape. "I guess once I roll it up to make the rolls it wont matter what shape it is...and I dont think he would be able to tell if it was lumpy either. I mixed everything together well so its not like he will get a bit of baked egg...." She said to herself again as she looked down at the floured mess on her counter top.
"Now, for the spicy part." This part hse was particularly excited for. Quickly she went back to her fridge and pulled out a stick of butter and grabbed her rolling pin again. "I need to spread this butter out first so that the chile peppers stick to it." She smiled and began pounding the butter into the stick dough and once it was mushy enough she spread it around to the spots that she had missed with her violent smashing of the butter. Happy with the results so far, she grabber he peppers and began chopping them up into fine little pieces. "Spicy, spicy!" She said smelling the peppers filling the air even with their spice. With a small cough and a clear of her throat, she spread the pepper pieces into the butter and rolled up the dough before cutting them into different inch and a hlf pieces. "He is going to love these so much." She told herself, obviously proud of her little disaster she had created.
Just as she was getting the rolls out of the oven, there was a knock on the door. Knowing exacly who it was, she excitedly rushed over to the door and yanked it open. "I'm so glad you are here! The spicy rolls are almost done! I baked them myself!" She told him, pulling him into the the house and right over to the kitchen where it was obvious something did not go how it was supposed to have.
"Spicy? Rolls?" Raydan asked a little concerned as she showed him the rolls. "Ohh!" He said looking down at them and instantly grabbing one to take a steaming hot bite out of it. "You mean Cinna-" It was this moment he paused and began coughing, realizing that this was in no way, or how, a cinnamon roll. He forced a smile and slowly chewed his bit. "Sheets...What did you make this with?" He slowly asked setting the roll down and getting a glass of water rinse down what ever it was he had just ate.
"Oh, the peppers I had in the fridge. Since you like the spicy candies I thoguht you would like some spicy rolls." She smiled widely.
"Sweetheart..." he began, not having the heart to break it to her. "These...are the best spicy rolls I've ever had." He said slowly giving her a thumbs up, earning a big smile from her.
