Costume Party

It had taken a few tries to get the look right, after all, Mari had a few skills that needed improvement. She was an amateur when it came to sewing and the like. Sure she could feed the fabric through the machine and come up with a product, but that didn't mean she knew a thing about stitches and tension and what needles were used for what fabric. That was so much work for what she thought would be an easy project! Shame on her though, really. This would've been done weeks ago if she had just commissioned someone to do the whole thing for her. Or better yet just buy a damn costume. Instead she was forced to resort to scrounging around her closet and visiting thrift stores to see what there was that she could use for an outfit. The hardest thing about going through her wardrobe was coming up with something she didn't wear on a normal basis. After all this was supposed to be a costume, not, "Oh look it's Mari wearing that top from last month's party!"

Thrift stores it was. All her clothes were too "normal" or just not what she was going for.

Luckily, two fays out from the fated occasion, she'd been able to find a sheer, long-sleeved top and a black pleather dress that seemed pretty vampy to her. The deep plunge would work wonders with her chest. No, she wasn't aiming for vampire but the vibes were basically the same. A quick visit to the craft store had ended with her buying er... a little more than intended but that was just fine! After a struggle with getting fur just about everywhere, she'd successfully managed to sew some black and gray fur around the neck and  wrists of the top. Oh god there was fur in her mouth. Ptooey!

For reasons unknown to her, she decided to make a matching set of bat ears and great hell why did she decide to get so ambitious? She oughta fight herself for that one. After trying and failing miserably to get not just the shape right but also in getting the damn things to stick up, she just made another trip to the store and bought a bat ear headband. Now cut some more fur, glue the shit on, and call it a day. Except don't because the glue wasn't holding so she had to hand sew it on and prick herself one too many times. This is why she couldn't be a seamstress.

At last the easy part lay in just getting it all on. She did some smokey makeup with a dark red lip and some gloss. Now to pray it didn't transfer onto the fake fangs she'd bought just for this look. The dress itself was amazing. It hugged her curves just right and really put on display a great sight of her cleavage. This was definitely going to be kept for her shows. She slipped into a pair of black heals before putting on the final piece. A set of black gloves that were tucked into the newly fur-lined sleeves of the sheer top. In a stroke of genius, she'd taken to attaching some black claws to the gloves earlier and wow they looked cool. She looked at herself in the mirror and gave a little wink. Oh yeah, it wasn't so bad a job after all for a last minute, half-assed costume. And if something looked at all amiss or a little shoddy? Well the party was at night anyway so screw it. Surely the mistakes would be difficult to spot anyway.

Oh crap, what was the time?
