A quick mix-up

Stumbling down the rabbit hole, shaking and sweating, Iris becomes overwhelmed by the overlapping voices surrounding her. She finds herself backing up into a high table. She whips herself around in a flash, and blurts out a high pitched "Sorry!" to the empty glasses that scattered before her.

She sighs, taking a moment to compose herself. Hearing the odd chuckle and jeer from the busy patrons around her, her face begins to flush and become hot, when suddenly she hears a loud CRASH from a few tables away.

"Oh geez, sorry! Sorry! Coming through... ahhh...!"
Iris couldnt place the voice at first, then out of nowhere she sees a figure pull themself up from the ground in a frenzy "So, this is her" she whispers.

Iris had always enjoyed drinking, but her lax nature made her far too sleepy or downright lazy to make the effort to come down to the Rabbit Hole. However, she heard enough from visitors to know Hops immediately - not from appearance, but reputation. If there ever was a bun that could make Iris appear stable on her feet, here she was.

Their eyes meet for a moment, before they both turn red and frantically try to clean up their respective messes. Iris stands up the spilled glasses from the table before taking an audible gulp of air and straightening her back. "Here it goes" she mutters to herself, before turning to face the reason she came all this way.
She croaks
"H.. Hops?"
Between the bustle of the bar, the buns and the booze, Hops doesnt even notice.
"HEY, HOPS!!"
At that moment, the song playing hit a quiet part. If the surrounding buns hadnt noticed her before, they certainly did now.

Hops bolts perfectly upright in a flash, made all the more impressive given her high heels. She exclaims nervously "Im sorry, was that your drink? I'll buy you another! I can -"
"No!" Iris blurts out, a little too forcefully. "I came here because I need your help... please"
Hops tilts her head
"Me?" She asks, pointing to her face
"Yes", Iris takes another gulp. "I just want to give up. I feel like Ive done everything right, I just dont know how you do it". She walks towards Hops before taking her by both hands. Iris lifts their hands together up to her chest, before they lock eyes. She looks as though she might cry.
"Err.. What do you want? Like, a job or-" Hops tries to talk to Iris but is interrupted again
"TEACH ME TO MAKE DRINKS THAT DONT SUCK BALLS"
Silence fills the air, again.
"B.. balls..? ohhhhh" Hops starts to loosen up her pose before bursting out laughing
"Pffff- if they do that then you'll make an absolute killing! Hahaaaa-"
Hops cant hold her laughter at this point. A typically anxious Iris holds her ground. It takes Hops a moment to compose herself, but she sees the resolve in her eyes.
"Phew, A'right". Hops lets out a relieved sigh now thst shes caught her breath again. "Lets get this started, then you can teach me the balls drink, but I warn you, I aint cheap".

The pair step over the discarded drinks tray and whatever concoction was foaming from beneath, before heading through the bar into the kitchen behind. Nobody seems to pay either of them any mind, less because Iris shouldnt be there, more because the wisps from a distilled spirit must have found their way to mingling with some sinnamon whiskey and were putting on quite the show.

"Right then" Hops claps her hands together, she seems keen. "Lets start with the old KISS"
Iris backs up a little and stammers, "Wh.. What? Ahh! No, no thats actually totally not wh-" "not KISS kiss, Kisssss!!" Hops looks over at Iris with more tired eyes "it means, keep it simple, stupid". Iris pouts, mumbling "I'm not stupid... " and sinks towards a nearby counter.

Hops perks up again at speed and grabs a large gin glass from the steam washer. She picks up a dishcloth from behind Iris and shoves both into her hands. "Polish" she barks. Iris absolutely hates labour, but adores instructions. She blushes and begins to vigorously wipe and shine the glass while Hops lays out a tall, round bottle with a red lid. Next to that, a shorter bottle adorned with a green cord and a simple, white cork.
"Okay" Hops starts to pull out some small, silver cups. "First we measure, its easy. You dont eyeball this stuff or you'll regret it later. Gins the sad drink, ya know?". She pours the tall bottle out into one of the larger metal measuring cups. "There, looks good. But... just in case"
Before Iris registers whats happened, Hops inhales the full shot.
"Phew, yeah, that the right amount alright!"
Iris scrunches up her nose a little. She isnt a gin lover at the best of times, so her tongue begins to tingle from the thought of how that must taste. She imagines it to be like when you open your mouth after putting on hairspray. Lost in her daydream, Iris misses that Hops has measured yet another shot of gin. She winces before snapping back into the real world.
"Hold on, yer not gonna make me do that" Iris snaps, swiping the measurement before hip-bouncing Hops to one side. "Let me do this, you just tell me how.... Er, p-please!"
"A'right, you got this" Hops smirks. "Just pour that out into the glass you razzle dazzled up over there"
"Wait, what?!" Iris retorts. "No sugar? No salt or sprinkles on the glass?" Iris seems confused and looks over to Hops for approval
"Ew" Hops seems grossed out by the question. "I told ya pink stuff, keep it simple. Adding all that crap may look nice but who's here to look, we're here to drink. Besides, its gonna look fi-i-ine as hell anyways".
Iris doesnt seem convinced, but sighs before emptying the gin into her shined up cup. "The names Iris, by the way" she remarks. Hops lets out a slightly embarassed giggle before making her way back towards the next bottle.
"Right Eye-Rizz, lets get some Fizz!". Hops starts to lose her composure as they both stare glassy-eyed at oneanother. A silent, mutual agreement to unhear whatever the hell that was.
Hops slides the Tonic bottle over towards Iris, who all too eagerly reached to grab it before it slid off, in turn almost shoving it off the counter the other way. She scrambles to straighten up the bottle and nervously pops the cork out of the top.
"Now, just fill 'er up til she looks about decent" Hops sings out, confidently.
"How am I meant to know when that is?" Iris moans
"Trust me, you'll know girl" Hops holds her pouring hand and they both top up the glass together until its just right.
"That was easy!" Iris beams, before reaching to drink her concoction. Hops slaps her gently on the wrist. "Nuh-uh, one more thing" she says, reaching over to a lidded bowl near the far side of the counter. Hops then garnishes the mix with some questionably fresh lime.
"What?" Hops asks as she raises an eyebrow, " the ones I just did are out front, these are still fine, princess" she runs her finger around the rim of the glass.
"Oh wait, before I forget, youre gonna need this" Hops gets excited, as she pulls out a small bag from beneath the counter, tied in a silk black bow. "Its my secret ingredient, we cant keep it too simple, after all" she winks, emptying the contents into the glass. "For a price, you can have this any time, gotta get that flay-vah~". Hops slides the glass over towards Iris, who stirs it with a drink pick she assumed was clean.

"Well, here goes" Iris seems nervous. She slowly reaches towards the glass, shaking, as though it could bite her at any time.
She brings it up to her lips
then
sips
...

"Its..brfuful" she mumbles
"Huh?!"
Iris turns to face Hops, wide-eyed and flushed.
"ITS BEAUTIFUL!!" She squeals.
Hops stares at her for a moment, before breathing a sigh of relief. "Yeah, I know"
"You're the best, Hops! Thank you, Ohhh! Thankyouthankyouthankyou....!"
An overly excited, and seemingly now tipsy, Iris begins to make her way out of the kitchen, finishing her Sin and Tonic and waving back at her temporary teacher.

Hops has a huge grin plastered onto her face, partially for helping out a likeminded clumsy bun, but also because she could see how much of a lightweight Iris was. "Guess she gets the cheap night out" She says to herself. She sits on a stool besides the storage cupboard, and breathes a sigh of relief. Looking up, her eyes suddenly widen as she takes in the kitchen around her.
"Wait a sec, who is going to clean this up? And more importantly, who is going to PAY?!"

Hops sinks from the stool onto the floor, still smiling, but eyes beginning to tear up. She knew she was never going to keave this place.
