Sunny Disposition

"Dan, can you help tie my back up." 

 

Shibani sat infront of a wall mirror. The silky red ropes that usually adorned him were now replaced by wide ribbons, strewn over him into a tasteful one piece bathing suit. A long diamond of exposed skin led from the base of his stomach to the top of his throat, leaving his back exposed all but a single untied knot at the base of his spine that seemed to hold everything together. 

 

When Dan finally entered the room, he stopped in his tracks and let out a sigh. "When you said you wanted to visit the beach today. I did not know you meant like this." He moved to Shibani's back, tying the knot firmly, tight enough to provoke a brief squeak from the ribbon bound bun. "Do not expect me to wear any swimming gear. I will be staying on the shore." He uttered briefly before turning on his heel, averting his gaze from the mirror. 

 

"Wait." Shibani cried out, spinning out his seat and reaching out for Dan's hand. "How do I look?" His smile shined like sun rays, and Dan couldn't deny the sincere question. The look on his face said everything. His nostrils flared slightly, and his eyes moved up and down slowly, soaking in all of the handiwork Shibani had put into the delicate folds and patterns that barely managed to conceal everything inside. 

 

Dan shifted the hand held in his own, and lifted it to his lips. "You look like a gift that is begging to be unwrapped." He smirked briefly, but just as quickly lowered his expression. "Are you sure that will hold? I'm not sure how rough the sea will be today." He aired his concerns for the delicate outfit. 

 

Shibani held a hand to his mouth, giggling mischievously at the romantic gesture before cupping Dan's arm reassuringly. "I only plan to sit on the beach. The waves make for fantastic sleep aides, and the sounds are very therapeutic. I've heard if you find a conch shell, you can take the sound of the sea with you."

 

Dan couldn't help but feel a tinge of doubt for the claim, no shell can mimic the sounds of the water. But none the less, he was satisfied with the conditions of their beach visit. "Alright. I will be ready to go shortly. I just need to close up the shop." He turned back to the door. Stopping only short to say one last thing. "If you promise to stay wrapped up tight until we return. I will find you as many conch shells as you could ever need. The sounds of the waves will never be far." 

 

Shibani smiled once more. Nodding in agreement to Dan's request. "Don't forget to bring a bucket." He returned to the mirror, making final adjustments to the ribbon around him. The knot Dan had tied was purely cosmetic, the ribbons were already secure long before he ever entered the room.  But he would never know that.
