Year of the Bun [3] - Hop To It

When Hops placed down the glasses, the response was cheerful. “Sure! I’m sure me and Midicus would love to taste... test?” Shibani paused as he looked over to Midicus, who was staring at the drinks with an expression that definitely seemed less than extremely excited. “What’s wrong, Midicus, don’t like the flavor?” the pale bun asked, snapping Midicus out of what was most likely another case of spacing out in thought. “Oh, no it’s not that, it’s just that I don’t usually drink when not at a party with my partner or my best friends. But I’m sure that just a few shots wouldn’t hurt… In fact, it’s kind of exciting!” He smiled, sitting at the bar and waiting for Shibani to do the same, which of course he did only a second later. “Oh, good! I promise that if you get too drunk, I’ll make sure you can still walk!” Shibani smiled, causing the other bun to giggle. “Alright, I’ll take you up on that, Shibani.”

With that discussion settled, the two took a good sip of the drink that had been placed in front of them, a colorful cocktail that swirled with red, orange, and blue. After a moment, Hops was by their side with a piece of paper and a pen to write down the ingredients and the two buns’ responses. “So, what did you two think?” She asked, and it seemed like Midicus was the first one able to speak. “Very good! Tropical, there’s a lot of pineapple in there, but not in a bad way.” Hops nodded and wrote something down, Shibani eventually following up with his own commentary. “It’s nice, I don’t think I could have said anything more than what Midicus did…”

"Great! Then let me get you both the next drink, just a moment!" It definitely felt like less than a moment before Hops placed down a different drink in front of the two, This one seemed to be split halfway of being purple and orange, a little bit fitting for Mochi Moon, but still not what Midicus expected for it- Shibani didn't seem very surprised though, so he guessed that it was just a side effect of drinking with friends for so long and not branching out as much as he wanted to. Both buns grabbed their respective glasses and sipped the new drink. Midicus seemed surprised that the flavors of the two drinks mixed so well to him, while the other one had been distinctly tropical with pineapple and coconut, this one had tastes of grapefruit and lemon- not a bad combination overall.

Compliments were given by both Midicus and Shibani, though Midicus once again went into a bit of detail about the flavor and the appreciation of such. However, as soon as Hops came back with yet another colorful drink, Midicus couldn't help but be curious, asking something while taking down another sip of cocktail. "This is all very good, Hops- but well, it's not exactly what I was expecting for a menu during something like this..." Hops gave a smile and a small laugh. "It's because your friends never try anything new! I'm honestly kind of shocked that you ended up trying something other than your usual!" Midicus blushed with a small pout, embarrassed upon being called out on such a thing. "But that's okay! I'm just really glad you're helping out! I do have something a little bit more traditional that I haven't taste tested yet... maybe you can try it!"

Before a response could be given, Hops placed a small glass next to Midicus. Shibani was given another colorful cocktail to try, while the drink that Midicus had was an orange drink that seemed to glow in the light. For a moment, he thought it was Sinnamon Whiskey, but it couldn't be, it wasn't on fire. Midicus took a sip, and made a small hum of approval as he finished up the small glass. It was cherry vodka, with a bit of citrus. It was simple, something heavily appreciated after the taste explosions that were the previous drinks. "So? Simple enough for 'event alcohol' ?" She laughed at that, but Midicus smiled. "It's good, yes. I'll remember to order this later." Another cheerful giggle.

Once Shibani had finished his drink and said his opinions, Hops took away the glasses, replacing them on the table with some of the cocktail strawberries that the two were promised. Shibani then took out a small list, crossing off the strawberries from it. "A list. For ingredients, I'm guessing?" Midicus seemed worried- how many more ingredients did they have to get? "Sure is! Next, we're going to see if Angora can give us some matcha powder! Oh- uhm. Do you know how to play any games?" Shibani looked up at Midicus. "Uh, I can play chess?" That seemed to be good enough, Shibani's smile returning to his face as he proceeded to drag Midicus towards the Casino. "Perfect, let's go find Angora!"
