Chapter 1: How to plant Tulips

Lil’Jester was nervous about visiting the cherubun’s greenhouse in the Heavenly Embassy. He knows the cherubuns take great pride in the greenhouse, so he has many different emotions. Nervous, scared, proud, and other ones he can not pinpoint, but among all these emotions he was able to tell that one of these was pride. But still, most of his emotions made him nervous about going; so with all these emotions going through his head, he tried to calm down before heading here by making sandwiches for him and Dove to share. But that didn’t help calm his nerves at all. Dove has invited him into the greenhouse a week ago, to show how they plant and take care of the garden. In the week leading up to coming to the greenhouse Lil’ Jester was happy until Amore came by his house one night. They were doing their normal board game night when Jester let it slip about going to the greenhouse.

“Wait you're going to the greenhouse in the Heavly Embassy?” Amore ask.

“Yeah, Dove invited me to come over. Why?” Jester stated.

“Well the Greenhouse is very important to the cherubuns, it's the only thing they have left Heavenly Meadow,” Amore started to say, “I went there once and I accidentally killed a flower and got banned from there.”

“Just from accidentally killing a flower?!” Jester said shock

“Yeah, but hey it's you so that properly won’t happen. You are to gentle with things anyway.” Amore said waving off Jester concern. 

After that conservation they went back to playing there board game but in the back of Jester's mind that conservation was in his head. Even as he takes his final steps toward the greenhouse that conservation plays out in his head. As he look at the greenhouse door, he took one more deep breath and walk in.

Once he entered he could see why the cherubuns took great pride in their greenhouse. The greenhouse was full of many different flowers, trees, vegetable and fruits that he has never seen. For a second Jester wonders why he has never seen them before but remembers that all these plants are from the heavenly meadow. Jester was too busy staring at a pair of glowing white tulips to notice that Dove was standing behind them with a watering can there hooves.

“I see you like that flower,” Dove said. Jester jump at hearing their voice and turn his head to look at Dove.

Nervously looking around Jester said, “Yeah these flowers look really pretty.”

“If you want we can plant some and I can show you how to take care of them,” Dove said.

“That would be great,” Jester started to say, “I also brought some sandwiches so that maybe we can eat some after we finish working in the garden.”

A soft smile was placed on Dove's face, “That would be great Jester, for now, let's place them by that bench over there.”

Jester nodded and went over to the bench and placed the sandwiches down. He turn around to see that Dove with there hooves stretch out with a tiny graden shovel. Dove motion to Jester to grab it and he does. Then Dove walks over to an empty garden plot and jester follows suit.

“So ready to be taught on how to plant and take care of these tulips?” Dove asks.

“Yes, please teach me well,” Jester said, Dove chuckled at the response.

Dove then pulls out a tiny garden shovel and then digs 6 hole that are each 4 inches apart and each were 5 inches deep. Then they place a bulb in each of them than and cover it up. After each one is burry they then grab the watering can that they were holding before and waters them well.

“There you go! Now we just wait til spring and then they will bloom.” Dove states.

“That's it, for just today care for them you mean?” Jester asks.

Dove chuckles before stating, “No, that it to take of them till spring. Tulips are a special type of flower. You plant them late fall and then once spring comes they bloom for all to see.”

“Then what about those tulips over there?” Jester asks.

“Oh, those are the tulips that were planted last year by Primrose. Why don’t you try your hand at planting some tulips.”

“Alright, what do I do exactly?” Jester asks.

“So each tulip is planted at least 4 to 5 inches apart. Then they dug a hole that is at least 3 inches bigger than the bulb. 5 inches should be good for these bulbs. Then once you bury them you water them well and then you are done til spring when they bloom.” Dove inform.

Jester nods after listening to Dove's lesson. Then with a careful mindset, he follow what Dove stated on how to plant the tulips. Each hole is dug 5 inches deep and each hole is 4 to 5 inches apart. Once Jester finishes that up he buries the bulbs in there and Dove proceeds to hand him the watering can. Taking the watering can, Jester then waters each location where a bulb was buried well with water.

“Perfect! You did a great job with planting and preparing the tulips for next year!” Dove said excitedly.

“Thank you Dove, I only was able to do a great job because you explain it so well,” Jester said.

Dove chuckles at that with a bit of blush on their face, “Shall I show you how to take care of some of the other plants in the greenhouse?”

“That would be great!”Jester yelled.

Dove then show Jester around the greenhouse telling him how to take care of each different type of plant that Jester show interst in. After Dove finish showing Jester around they decide to take a break and eat the sandwiches that Jester brought. As they ate Jester decide to speak up about him being nervous.

“Before coming here into the greenhouse I was nervous about messing something up here.” Jester confess.

“Why would you mess something up?” Dove asks.

“Well, I heard from Amore about how precious this place is and how she got banned for accidentally killing one flower. So I was nervous that I would do the same.” 

When Jester turn his face to look at Dove, he notice that their face went sour at the mention of Amore.

“Uh, I mean yes Amore accidentally killed one flower but she also did a bunch of other things that caused her to be banned,” Dove stated.

“Like what?” Jester asks.

“Well I won’t go into great detail but there is a reason why Primrose bans people from even speaking Amore's name in here.”

Jester then looks at the ground with concern about what did Amore do in the greenhouse that would cause such a problem.

“You don’t have to worry about being banned from here you did a great job. In fact, I was going to invite you again once spring comes around for you to see the tulips you planted in bloom.” Dove said.

Jester gave a smile to that and said with much enthusiasm, “That sound great I would love to come back!”

“Great to hear!” Dove responds with the same amount of enthusiasm.

After that, they finish eating their sandwiches and Dove then finish up their tour with Jester to show the remaining of the greenhouse. Once the tour was finished Jester left the greenhouse in the Heavenly Embassy with a skip in his step. Jester could not wait for spring to come around so that he could see the tulips he planted with Dove in bloom.
