Plush Pet Pals
This year Arrie decided to attend the toy fair. Having seen the cute plush that Darlet had brought back last year from his time learning with Peter gave her a goal. Finding things that looked like her Imps. She had a healthy collection of stuffed toys that her Imps loved to play with, but having a toy matching each of her Imps to adorn her already trinket cluttered room would be a perfect touch to tie her setup together. Her fans loved commenting on the new decorations in the backgrounds of her face cam, so she would be sure to shout out the vendors that made them.
Walking the huge venue of stalls lined side to side throughout the fair, she saw plenty of adorable art and designs on some of these toys. Custom dolls being made in the likeness of the people buying them, a man selling several sets of matryoshka dolls designed after a Loafki, she had even spotted a ton of balloon buns floating above a stall off in the distance. There really was something for everyone in this place.
A corner with plush stands were decorated in hanging fabric and ribbons of string. This group were each doing different designs custom to order, and Arrie spotted one making multicolored Corvats. The girls handiwork was so smooth that you'd think this was her fulltime job, but something about her told Arrie otherwise. "Hey there! You wouldn't happen to have any blacks and reds for a Sinners Day Corvat would you?" The woman looked up from the green plush in her hands, a tired smile covering her face as she set her work down to check a box of fabric beside her.
"Hey Vince. You got the black? I don't think it's in mine." The woman turned to a man in thick rimmed glasses working on his own Impup plush. He took one hand off of the sewing machine and reached into his own box to retrieve a thick roll of black fabric. It must have been one of the more popular colours all things considered. "Thanks. So. How big did you want it? We have 'em in four different sizes." She pointed to a chart on the table showing measurements for each design, including square inch per carat so that all the costs were marked in case of any additions or alterations. The whole thing was very well designed, and the artwork on the laminated sheet was incredibly familiar.
While she explained the sizing chart and sorted through the fabrics, Arrie felt a snap in her mind. "Daria? Delicate Daria?" The woman stopped in her tracks, and a wry grin swept over her face. "Holy shit. I can't believe I didn't notice you. Out of costume, you look so... Retail?" It felt rude to say that, but she couldn't describe it any other way.
"Heh. You know. I was wondering when you'd piece that together. I know you don't really play with us that much, but we love chatting in your streams." Wait. Us? Arrie looked again at the thick rimmed glasses, almost taken back by how different he looked without makeup. The others at the stands all looked familiar too.
"Gosh, I definitely need to have you all on my stream again soon. It's been a long time since I have gotten full make-up done for the camera. Do you all still have the Queens Gambit house together?" A house of drag queens and kings that streamed themselves doing various fashion challenges, and occasionally playing games together. Arrie had played an open world game together with them back a few months, but she'd been an avid lurker in their streams for much longer.
"We sure do. That's why we decided to open all our stands together. We had a Livestream with Peter not too long ago where he taught us how to stitch our favourite Imps, and he gave us a great deal on all the fabric since we used the stream to advertise Cottontail Couture's new Fall line." Daria slid a hand back to the black fabric. "Now. About that Corvat." Arrie reeled herself in, a bit embarrassed at her delayed realization. She looked at the chart again, selecting the largest size.
"Oh, and can I get one of those Impup plushes too? I think Jousah would love a big Syrup."
