Retail Therapy
Elvira looked in the mirror sadly at her small horns, then at the magazine spread under her right hoof. “I can’t wear pretty jewels like that…” And she wanted to look her best for the upcoming party at her friends house. She glanced at Blossom, her beloved Imp. “Maybe I should get some new stickers for them. What do you think?”
The little flower shook itself slightly, the petal swaying gently as it attempted to say no. Elvira sighed again, hand in hoof as she flipped through several more pages of fancy jewellery, all adorning tall or long horns. She closed up the magazine with another heavy sigh, and walked over to her collection of stickers.
Pretty stars, moons, various fruits. She held a few up to horns, and then looked at the other cute accessories she wanted to wear for the night. None of her stickers, no matter how pretty, were going to fit it just right. Elvira carefully put her box of stickers back and grabbed her purse to head out with.
No use dwelling on what can’t be done, time for some retail therapy.
Elvira passed several shops as she walked along, barely paying much mind to them. What was supposed to be retail therapy had turned into listening in on the latest gossip in the town. Though everything came to a stop when a brand new shop came into her line of view.
It had to be new, there was a grand opening sign, balloons, and apparently a whole lot of really shiny stuff inside. Curiosity got the better of her and she slipped inside past several other buns. Necklaces, rings, tail accessories, and horn trinkets. Of course. Elvira sighed and walked past them, or at least tried to.
A stunning bun in uniform stepped in her path and asked if she wanted to look at the horn decorations but Elvira shook her head. “I’m afraid my horns are a little too small.” The bun in uniform looked her over and reached out with a measuring tape. Elvira sighed ready to turn and be on her way, but the bun spoke up again.
“They aren’t too short at all, we have the perfect accessories for sloths and lusts. Would you like to take a look?” Elvira thought it may just be more stickers, or maybe horn caps. Casting her glance at the ground beneath her she shrugged. “Right this way then~” The bun led Elvira through the collections to a spot near the back.
Elvira wasn’t about to get her hopes up, but as the bun gestured at some display cases her eyes lit up. Carefully crafted. Dainty. Gorgeous. These horn decorations were like nothing she had ever expected. “They’re perfect! Am I allowed to try them on?” The bun nodded and helped her with the few she had picked.
The set she chose first, was a stunning pair of horn caps, thin and dainty rose gold metal threads intertwined with one another looping back and forth between the horns, settling in a stunning array across her forehead. It was gorgeous, but perhaps a little too much for the party tonight.
The second piece she picked, were specially designed. A clear circlet to sit atop the horns, perfectly fitted. The jewels sitting stunningly as though glued in place, dainty threads of silvers and golds hanging down in swooping loops to just before the bottom of her horns. It was simple, but sparkly and still ornate. She looked them over in the mirror, smiling wide to herself. Still not quite the set for the party tonight but she did have the bun add them to a bag for her. She wasn’t leaving without at least two sets of these gorgeous horn coverings.
It was the third set that really caught her eye however. Small, and perfect. The could have been better described as earrings for any bun who didn’t look too close. The part on the horns had gorgeous sterling silver threads falling in place behind her head, and they clipped almost invisibly onto the fur at the back of her ears in a way that put threads in the same style as behind her head. Simple, and pretty, without being overbearing. She loved them. “These. These are the ones.”
The bun put them in the bag with the other ones, and Elvira made her way to the counter to pay. She was so excited she was already messaging her friends about the cute little shop. “I will absolutely be back, thank you~ Thank you!” Elvira was so excited to go and show off her new jewellery to all her friends. This party would be perfect for that, she could show her fellow short horned friends the shop too if they wanted. Best retail therapy day ever.
