Nostalgic Benefactor
Watching the newborn baby buns be cradled and held by loving arms is always so sweet. Mercy watches their fellow nuns carefully transport the babies, swaddled and gathered in strong but graceful arms. They stand apart, their head tilted to the side with a serene smile on their face. It’s a yearly event, but it never ceases to be such a wonderful sight. Such a noble thing for their dear Murmur to do. What a special job it is to raise those precious little buns into the wonderful well rounded individuals they grow into.
Of course, Murmur isn’t the only caretaker. A couple years here and there, Mercy is often surprised by other demons who take an interest in their baby buns. The more the merrier. With a slight chuckle, Mercy thinks of those certain fervently wishful demons who like to pick up one or two buns to raise as their own. They’re the ones who leave a great tithe to the Church. Oh yes, Mercy does like those demons indeed. Murmur is always delighted too, for he believes there’s always a need for more demon caretakers. It’s a win-win scenario for them all. Demons and buns alike get rewarded. At the end of the day, Mercy is the one who takes the credit (and the offerings box). It's truly a delight to organise such things.
When the baby buns are safely deposited into the loving arms of their caretakers, Mercy returns to the office. Time to get back to work. Oh, for all the joy of seeing the dear little buns away, the paperwork it brings is another story. Even still, Mercy doesn’t mind. Demons and adult succubuns alike enjoy visiting the Church at this time. It’s a chance to perhaps see Murmur, or to pay their respects to fond memories from the past. It’s delightful. It’s true what they say: Nostalgia is a wonderful benefactor. The tithe boxes usually end up full by the end of the day from demons and succubuns alike, and oh, kind and gentle sweet Mercy is so wonderful that they empty the box each and every evening, sorting all the tithes away. All they have to do is delve their hands in and no one will know the difference.
Lace doesn’t pay for itself! Smoothening down their skirt, Mercy gets to work. Another year, another success. Perhaps it’s time to look into expanding the programme. Logistics would come soon, but it’s a wonderful programme.
Hearing the heavy doors of the Church close even from in another room, Mercy smiles. Soon, preparations will begin for the new adult succubuns. Another class to run. They’ve cut costs again this year for the programme. Mercy claims they don’t know what happened to the funding, though perhaps the newly tailored cream lace and silk uniform waiting for them at home says otherwise.
Mercy is overseeing the departure of new babybuns. Perhaps their delight is for another reason.
