Sorbet and Dangos

"Thank you for getting that lavender and white chocolate ice cream into that ice cream machine to churn! You can get going" Limon told one of her employees, a sloth bun. They nodded and thanked her before running out of the parlor.

 

"Too bad they can only do few hours at a time. Such excellent worker" Limon sighed with a small smile as she went to wipe down the counters. She had closed her parlor for the day and had been working all day catching up on completing her much needed to do list. She had completed a good number of it and all that remained was to produce more quantities of few certain flavours. It was tiring work but worth it to the sweets loving doll.

 

Ding Dong~!

 

"Oh apologies but we're not-OH Dan!" Limon smiled at the gray blue prideful doll who had just entered the parlor carrying few boxes with him.

 

"Apologies. Is now a bad time for that lesson?" Dan lifted up the boxes and Limon's eyes lit up

 

"OH yeah our agreed deal in dango for ice cream lessons. We're closed so it should be good time to get started as I know you hate crowds" Dan's shoulders sagged in relief at that. 

"Any flavour in particular and which type of ice cream?"

"....I want to say frozen yogurt but Shibani prefers sorbets"

"Ah you want to make something for him? That's sweet. I do have a machine that can churn out both types, they just need the paddle switched out. Come on to the back and I'll show you how to make sorbet then we can have sweets yes? I know that mochi bites has been fantastic topping for frozen yogurt. Oh don't give me a look, they work best with our matcha, red bean and black sesame flavours. Fruity flavours as well. Now come on!" Limon laughed at Dan's stare as she went into the back with the reluctant prideful doll following. 

 

 

"You can use frozen or fresh, I find I prefer fresh so I can strain for more smooth sorbet" Limon explained as she grabbed a bowl, cutting board, knife, a saucepan, some sugar and water. 

"Which fruit?" "Strawberries please" Limon nodded and had him come over to the chopping board as she took out a container of strawberries

"Dice those then make sugar syrup" she instructed, knowing he was capable. Dan easily followed her instructions in throughly dicing the strawberries, and Limon noted that Dan did not have any difficulties preparing the sugar syrup. Probably due to the glazes he uses on his dangos. She noted that it was perfectly done and set aside to cool.

 

Limon went to search for the fine mesh strainer and Dan raised an eyebrow at that

"I hate seeds in my sorbet and texture is far better without" she notified him and he nodded 

"I usually use powder" he admits "Less water content"

"Doesn't surprise me. I do sometimes use them as well" she nods as she set it by the chopping board and the food processor was pulled out for blending. 

 

It wasn't long before Dan was lifting the chopping board toward the processor and sliding the diced strawberries in before adding some sugar syrup for blending. Once it was in a very liquid form, Limon got out a bowl for Dan to pour the mixture through the fine mesh strainer into the bowl. Several seeds remained in the mesh strainer and it was tossed straight into the sink. Some lemon juice was squeezed into the base and then it was transferred to the fridge to be chilled. 

 

While it chilled, Dan opened up the boxes he had brought along with him and the pair settled in to relax for a bit. Limon reached over for the yuzu dango and peach dango to munch on.

"MM! Those are really good as always" she smiled as Dan nodded gruffly. 

 

"I would offer you mochi ice cream but we just sold out for the day. Tomorrow maybe?" She sighed

"I'll be by to pick them up tomorrow"

"Okay!"

 

They continued to munch on dangos until the bowl was chilled and then Limon supervised as Dan carefully churned the contents into sorbet. They both had a small bowl each to sample, and Limon hummed in delight.

"Mmm fresh strawberries. You did well! Shibani will love those. Also did you bring more mochi dough?" Dan nodded toward the counter where a large box rested.

"Perfect! Thank you so much. I'll enjoy those dangos. Also" she got up and hurried into a nearby pantry with Dan tilting his head only to blink when the lusty doll carried a box out.

"Churner for you, same type I use!" she grinned "Thank you. Enjoy those dangos and mochi" Dan nod as he picked the churner and sorbet container up before departing. They were definitely going to be good friends, Limon could just sense it.
